Will be up for sale very soon,

Rebuild was carried out by pete, so you know its done to a great standard. I have always used pete as he's a top bloke and never had any problems.

The standard Rebuild price is £265, but i went ahead with the uprated countershaft bearing, extra £10, and i got the top bearing done as this is normally re-greased, which is an extra £42. So the total price was £315.

Its been run in correctly and boosts well, no oil in the charge pipes. Boost pressure is approx 11/12psi, but bear in mind i run 51mm tb, gt inlet, ported head and 1341cc so it will be lower than a standard engine. This charger made 171bhp on my car.

Bit of history of the charger, was bought from a member on here in winter 2010, with a total mileage of 3000 miles on the charger. He bought the charger brand new and then had it made to R1 spec, carried out by jabbasport in 2001. Certificate is in my possession. Had it fitted but never got round to driving it as much as he intended.

Had a part rebuild by pete in april 2012 as the oil seals failed. 4 seals were replaced and 2 bearings.

The charger was fitted to my car at 108500 miles when i 1st bought it, and was removed at 129969 for the full re-build, which brings the charger mileage to 24469. Since fitting it to the car its done 650 miles, so total charger mileage is 25119 miles. Very low for a charger, good thing is that its been rebuilt so its good for at least 20k with a 65mm pulley or 40k on standard pulley. I did the above mileage 24k on a 65mm pulley so it had done very well.

As for price, £500. I know £495 is jabba's price for a r1 spec and rebuild but they dont supply uprated bearings and the top bearing, from what people have said in the past, doesn't get changed. Plus you know its been rebuilt properly!

I run a standalone oil kit with a low pressure pump, i would recommend fitting it, leaving it run for 5 mins then drive for a few miles off boost. Just to let the oil seals get use to the normal engine oil pressure.

Will get pics once its off next weekend.

I might be interested.
Can you tell me what makes a charger 'r1'? The description on the jabba site is the same as the stage 4.
Also, do you have the induction kit required for this charger? And will you ship to the Netherlands?

Jezza-7

The R1 spec was the top porting they used to do but now they just do a stage 4 which is meant to be the same. The R1 spec was equivalent to, if you have heard of it, a PSD  full blend. Which is ported a lot.

Unfortunately I don't have an induction kit for this.

Yeah, I'll see what the prices are and get in touch.

Jacque

soooo tempting  :-*

if scully does not take it, send me pm :)

Jezza-7

I will do mate.

Haven't had a chance to get post office today but i will tomorrow!

scully

I'm still interested.

I am not familliar with PSD full blend or Jabba R1 spec. Can you inform me what this means? Maby you have some pictures of the modifications?

Etches

All you need to know mate is that its the largest porting available in the UK really. Flows the most etc. Pretty much the most sought after charger really.

Jezza-7

Yeah its as tom says above. Its the most porting offered here. PSD full blend is the same as a jabba R1 charger. Its just PSD's name for the level of porting when they were around. These were a few of the companies around at the time that did charger porting for us. Now there are not many.

I'll dig out some pics, or if you can wait till saturday i'll be getting pics of mine.

Think i got a few from when it was opened up once.

Only pictures i got at the mo are:

Standard charger from outside looking through outlet. You can see the bearing housing is round in shape and the fins are big.

And the R1 charger before it was rebuilt, bearing housing is not round and the fins are very small. They go to an almost knife point finish. They can be quite sharpe.

This is an old PSD charger i had. Can see on the outlet that material has been taking away from the bearing, fins and the casing between each fin. This PSD one was a full blend but compared to another PSD full blend i have had, the porting in this pic below was nothing compared to the other one. I'll find the pic of that one as well.

scully

Allright, that looks good. I was a little bit worried that it had 3 fins removed, but that is not the case. What about (I don't know the English name) the moving magnesium part. Has it been worked on much?
When you ask for shipping costs at the post office, can you inform about insured postage?

Jezza-7

Yeah the fins are all there. Them ones with the 3 fins removed look like they would weaken the bearing housing a little too much.

The scroll, i dont think its had any work on it at all. Once its off the car, i'll crack it open and get some pics of the inside.

Hopefully get it off today then get some prices and i wouldnt wanna send it without any insurance so it will be with insured postage. I'll go to Royal mail and DHL etc.

International shipping vary, from £40 to £100.

DPD £40
TNT £40
Parcelforce £67
DHL £98

Parcelforce and DPD are insured (up t £500) and tracked, DHL you have to ring but there double the other prices and TNT is insured £15 per kg. Charger boxed is 6.7kgs so only £90. Parcel force and DPD are best for myself as i can walk there, TNT i can use as there is a depot not too far. Parcel force posted and insured is £52 on its own and tracked is extra £15. I'd happily pay the extra £15 to become tracked for my own reasons of proof its been delivered, so i'll call £50 via parcel force.

Silver tape is purely to keep the oil inside the charger.

And the certificate of the charger from jabba after the R1 work had been carried out. Serial number is JS 588 R1 as can be seen in the pic above.
