Right basically I rebuilt my supercharger but on fitting and startup it pissed oil everywhere.
Turned out to be a seal I had accidentally nicked when fitting to the scroll.

Anyway swapped the scroll out for one from a known working charger.

When I turned the charger by hand after the new scroll was fitted it turned fine. But on the car it started making an odd clicking/knocking kind of noise.

Took the charger back off and if I quickly rock the pulley back and forth I can hear and feel a knock but I can't pin point where it is coming from.

Any ideas greatly appreciated, really need the car working :(

did the counter balance weight go on without any force?

you sure you got that the right way round (and the one on the countershaft right too)

Right cracked the thing open again and found that there is about 1mm of up-down play in the top counter balance.

Is this what I'm hearing? It's all I can find. Everything else is nice and solid.

it should be flat side up.

take the circlip off and keyway out.  rough up the keyway with side cutters and refit.  Should be tighter now.

Is it a jabbasport marked counterbalance weight by anychance?

I've changed the keyway and counter weight over from the other charger (this thing is turning into a bit of a frankenstein) and it is a tighter fit.
The counter weight isn't marked with a JS number, but the one on the shaft is.

Refitted the casings together and if I put my fingers through the outlet and stop the counter weight moving I still get a little play.

Should it be completely solid?

PeteG40

no - sometimes theres a little play.

one thing to mention is to weigh the counter balance weight on the main shaft that says www.jabbasport.com  jabba sometimes used to 'balance' them - which means they often are lighter than stock ones and don't balance!  causing a vibration

Well put it on the car and it sounds a lot better now, no oil bursting out of it this time either which is good.

All I can hear now is the whine from the toothies, so I hope all is well.
