Best place to buy gearbox parts? 5th gear oiling mod??

Can anyone recommend a place to buy gearbox components? I.e: bearings, syncros, gears? Dealer only??

I just did a strip down of what seemed like a good box to fit a diff and some of the syncros and 5th gear are pretty shabby, not to mention pitted bearings and oil like tar.

I've heard about a 5th gear oiling modification, can anyone shed any light on this as 5th does look like it's been dry?

Also, has anyone got an 8p 5th gear? I want to lower my rpm in 5th when cruising.
