Thanks mate, before i shell out can anyone tell me what the fitments like?
Im worried it will stick down a bit and hit all the speed bumps
the one i have on now touches the gearstick box, havnt seen any pics of it on a car, and would like to see before a shell out £600 odd
Title: Re: Ppp group buy
Post by: Yoof on June 03, 2013, 09:29:41 am
Going out on a limb, it's the best fitment for an off the shelf system you can get, unless Haysey has fitted it, and then it's about the worse thing.

63mm is a fair old size of pipe to fit down a Polo tunnel, and the weight of stainless systems will stress rubbers more. The system/manifold has one sleeve joint at the manifold/system and one flange joint post mid section, so there's a small degree of freedom the exhaust can be tweaked.

We farted around with the manifolds for a long time, various different designs for clearance with different toothed belt kits, and the charger position with No.1 exhaust runner, ended up with something that's the most clearance possible, without impeding flow.

This was the first design:

Second design with greater clearance to Cyl 1 runner:

These are a single piece and both the exhaust and manifold have lambda bosses.

Cheers

Pete

They look gorgeous! Thanks for posting that, id personally prefer the second design to give more charger clearance
yeah thats what i found with mine 2.5" doesnt fit too well in the tunnel. You got any pictures of the amount of ground clearance as thats my biggest concern
thanks mate

What do you recommend in the way of rubbers Yoof (ooh er) for the PPP system? I'm assuming you arent using the stock hangers anymore?

well if all the people that have posted are serious we have 7
how many are you thinking of stocking? Tbh if i had the money id probably buy a few as people are always asking after ppp exhausts

I coudl strech to x2 manifolds and x2 systems.  2nd would be for sale for profit.
Title: Re: Ppp group buy
Post by: z3i on June 04, 2013, 04:05:11 pm
Im no good at maths but thats roughly £6260  (unless ive counted wrong) for all the mix of 4 branch / system / both for everyone thats interested at individual pricing, plus whatever ppp buys
surely that warrants big discount?
Title: Re: Ppp group buy
Post by: Jezza-7 on June 04, 2013, 05:56:49 pm
I would only go in if the manifold was a really good price.

What would price be Andy on the manifolds?

Title: Re: Ppp group buy

Just looked at the pics on your exhaust page on the forum - is there a flexi section in the exhaust?
Title: Re: Ppp group buy

I would be interested in taking a Manifold, again with the rest of them, if they come in at a good price!

Just got back from Germany- Stu, there's no flexi in the exhaust no, no problems with this setup.

Title: Re: Ppp group buy
Post by: gaz g40 on June 07, 2013, 03:38:04 pm
Any news on prices yoof? Theres alot more interest than i thought there would be
Title: Re: Ppp group buy
Post by: Yoof on June 07, 2013, 04:08:48 pm
Yup, 2013 Manifold Prices:

3 to 5 - £470/ea

6 to 9 - £425/ea

10+ - £380/ea

Prices include VAT, but don't include delivery (£15-£20 for UK Mainland)

If the group buy can only get 5, PPP will buy stock to hit the next pricebreak (same goes if we get to 8 manifolds)

Cheers

Pete

Cool beans... are you still waiting on prices for the full systems? Whereabouts are you based? Also, do you have a rough idea on lead time, or is that TBC?

I would rather collect them, inspect them all, then send them out. If you want to save on postage I don't mind bringing it to a show- or you can meet me when I'm on my travels.

If people can add names to the list, I will get prices on exhaust systems too.

Title: Re: Ppp group buy

I am still keen. However my G went bang the other day. And instead of pouring money into it, I am on holiday running from the Turkish riots and keeping my eyes open for any supercharged polos. So far nothing. I will be back on the 21st. If it was just the distributor cap and leads then my name is down. If its more serious I may be tempting fate.

FYI if you run the full system you end up with two lambda bungs anyway  ;)

As ancient as the Longlife is, it's not rotten so I may be able to claw back some cash if anyone's interested. Especially with the de-cat downpipe included.

3-4 weeks from point of order, although the supplier does have a contract with Radical I believe, so if they shout for systems they get done first!

They're usually spot on with timings though.

Will give the manifolds a few more days and then PM those involved and collect deposits. Will update exhaust prices when I ring tomorrow

Gaz- Paypal is same as the contact address.

However, it's a business Paypal, so I'm not 100% you can gift money.

Try it, worst that happens is I'll refund you if the correct amount doesn't come through.

Cheers

Paid £200 by Paypal to e-mail address for exhaust system only. £200 left to pay.
Will I get away with single silencer system as car is G40 for track use, or will it fail noise requirements? Does single silencer system give more power? Comments welcomed!

Thanks

Pete

Just FYI- If you're supercharged I would strongly recommend a twin silenced system, the second silencer is only small, and the exhaust is obviously louder than stock, but with only a single silencer they're f'in loud!

Turbo is fine with single silencer, mine passes track days noise tests without problem. Supercharged and twin silencer will pass track day noise (Hayesey/Sam have you passed a 95dB day in the past with a 63mm exhaust + lader? )

Cheers

Pete

thanks for that mate, im not sure though, ive got a twin silenced phil j system at the moment and it sounds kack, is more boy ricer than throaty tuned car, so was worried it would sound the same
are talking unbearable loud? Would i be likely to get pulled over by the po-po for being a yob?
are single exit out of the backbox like in the picture? As you did some dual exit ones, definitly dont want that lol
Thanks for your help sorting this, appreciate it :D

We only ever did single-exit Taylor. Twin silencer on a G40 'charger is still pretty throaty - am sure some G-lader owners will post up their thoughts!

Single-silencer is really pitched at turbo'd cars.

Gents,

Hopefully you all have PM/E-mail replies with payment details and answers to any questions, I’ve been away this weekend- thanks to those who have paid already I will confirm and update the list tonight.

Regarding delivery/collection – I will collect addresses from you all in due course and get quotes, some areas of Scotland seem to attract higher premiums despite being non-highland (think we had this last time Mark?) All non-UK purchases I will do the same for.

Those who wish to collect, can do from myself- I live near Rubgy, Warwickshire. Week nights are far better than weekends for me, but I don’t mind bringing parts to shows (Retro Rides, VW Action, CG40 RWYB) that I’m attending.

Many Thanks

Pete

Wrong list - that's the one for people who have paid deposits. But that's fine - scroll back to page six and you'll find payment details. So if you pay a deposit, copy the list and add what you've paid for it'll all be good.  8)

Will update the payment list tonight, Mario you have both our BIC and IBAN in an e-mail  :)

Taylor- Basically when everyone has paid, supplier has said there’s a 3-4 week lead time currently, and I then need to collect them, package, and courier to people, so add 1-2 weeks on that.

You can collect from me if it’s easier/quicker or I can bring a few systems/manifolds to VW Action at the end of August (I’m not bringing a car full though  :D)

Cheers

Mid Aug is 4 weeks away, I can't comment really, but I can't see them being ready if some peeps haven't paid as of today.
The thing with group buys is you get a good product at good price, but you have to be patient...

i completely understand and agree with what your saying
but the group buy did start in may
and i dont mind waiting for the product at all its just we are waiting for a few people to pay. i had the majority of the money ready to pay when i put my name down, or i wouldnt have put it down

im sorry to be impatient, but my G is currently off the road and once i get the gearbox back in i cant bolt the subframe or suspension up until i get the exhaust. and the tax on my currently daily runs out end of august, which is being scrapped so there is no point in re taxing and MOT ing it for a month, plus its been in a massive crash and is dangrous to drive

i also have a week off mid august so wanted to get it all done then ready for Edition 38 as my mate has just finished his MK1 golf project off after 4 years!! so am looking forward to going with him
my G is my daily

i know these are my problems but were waiting on like 2 people
thank Taylor

Taylor - they won't be ready for the 12th August even if the remaining payment are all made today.

Work on the assumption they're always 6 weeks from point of order (worst case for exhaust supplier and worst case for collection/courier) and org anise what you need to around that, hopefully you won't be disappointed then.

Cheers,

Pete

We now have 9 paid for the manifolds, and 10 for the systems. I am happy to purchase the remainder for stock to hit the price break on the manifolds.

ALL WHO HAVE NOT PAID - THIS CLOSES ON 21/07/13

So if money has not been received by then, you won't be included in this group buy. Got to put a cut off somewhere for the other people involved.

Thanks,

Peter

Taylor, could you make it Sunday morning or Sunday evening (I'm out midday)

I don't want to commit to Saturday encase of traffic, they're being collected from Cheshire, so 200 mile round trip for me in a van, which I'll have to drop off etc.

Gents,

I contacted the supplier today who has informed me I cannot collect on Saturday. I'm fuming, van has been booked already (they won't all fit in my car) and they've had 7 weeks from point of order.

I'm awaiting an explanation from them, will keep you updated, I can only apologize for the delay at the moment, I'm aware some of you as desperate for these parts.

Cheers

Hi Gaz- Yes, I am expecting delivery on Monday 16th around 3pm.

I am also on holiday from Wednesday 18th, which is crap as it leaves you guys 2 evenings to collect parts before I leave. All postal order will have to go our upon my return into the country - ideally sent out on 27th September.

Kind of gone to shit this group buy, which isn't ideal for anyone.

If those collecting can let me know via PM if they are available Monday 16th or Tuesday 17th after 5pm I can send my address and contact details to you.

Cheers

Pete

No worries mate, PM back with you.

Yup group buys are a pain in the arse, we've been sat on 10 subframes since June as a French group buy were so slow in paying!

Ho hum, I hope the exhausts are all the same quality as previous items, and they've not been rushed.

Cheers for being patient gents.

Thats like an inch more ground clearance than my other one, the fitment is like a glove!!! so happy with it, gives about half an inch more charger clearance so it should soak up as much heat
the thing is like a work of art!!

Gents- For those who haven't collected, you will have a PM/e-mail by tomorrow afternoon with a tracking number, and final amount for postage. The supplier delivered the final systems today, so my job this weekend is to package everything up, they will be sent out once payment has been recieved (options for Paypal/Bank Transfer in the PM)

Courier (dependant on location) is 3-5 days, you will be able to track progress online.

Many Thanks,

Peter

P.S- Those waiting for lambda bungs they have also arrived and will be sent out this weekend  :)

Hi Pete, car is running and exhaust fitted, I'm so happy with it, sounds dam awesome!! Couldn't ask for a more perfect sound

However there's a few niggles, I don't want to sound like a moaner, but where the system is flared to fit over the 4 branch is not long enough.

The whole exhaust needs to go forward as it pulls the rubber backwards on the middle mount. And puts the rear out leaving just mm or it touches the fuel tank and vibrates against it,. If the flared bit was say and inch more flared the exhaust could slot over the 4 branch further and. The system would fit perfect. I will get some photos mate
Other than that it's perfect, sounds awesome, doesn't resonate or drone, just sounds raspy and crisp, love it mate, top job

Can you not cut the manifold back a little to compensate?

You can cut £1000 of exhaust if you fancy

Sorta common sense... if rear setcion slides over manifold and sits too far back it may be long enough to allow you to trim a little off...

No need for the sarcy-ness

Sorry mate
but I was kinda hoping I wouldnt have to modify it for the price it cost
Cutting it could work, But id be worried I might mess it up

Might invest in one of those fancy exhaust cutters with the sharp rollers for a nice cut, and not an airsaw lol

Measure twice, cut once! Lol.
Know what you mean though. If id forked out that kinda money id be pretty pissed.

I dont see an issue with removing a little material off the manifold, would allow you to slide the rear section further forward to where you want it. Just measure how far out it is and make sure the manifold is long enough to allow it to slide a bit further back

Get us a picture if you can Taylor, if the whole engine moved forward by 10mm would this solve your problem?

I.e - You might have enough movement on the standard engine mounts without cutting anything.

E-mail the pics to me and I can compare them to the original car (Robin's old red G40), although the jigs haven't changed since the first system. If you can take some measurements (I'll reply with which ones) I can check against our last batch of systems too (one fitted to Andy's car).

Glad it sounds well (and you went with the twin silencer  ;) ) Fitment issue won't be hard to sort.

Cheers

Pete

Haha, yeah, I'm glad I listened to you on that lol
Everyone has commented on how awesome it sounds :D

That's an idea! Though it probably wants to go a good 3/4 inch forward, but 10mm will make a fair bit of difference, will check if I can get much movement on the engine mounts :)

Sure, will get some pics at lunch :)
Thanks mate :)
Yeah I'm not too worried to be honest as its so dam awesome, just the knocking against the tank at idle
Even the tip is lush, just looks so nice!

Check in the packaging - should be in a jiffy bag, wrapped in cardboard, taped up.

Unless the package was damaged and it's fallen out, although I've used enough shrink wrap and parcel tape...  ;D

hi,found gasket but no rubbers, have now from bosal for g40,have fitted everyting but when i wanted to screw the arb back on in hits the arb on the left pipe of manifold ?still have Original silent blocks(the rubber ones)would it clear if i fit the hard arb blocks?

Is the car lowered? Sometimes manifolds hit as the cars lowered on standard arb brackets. Ppp i think can supply arb blocks to sort this

I've fitted mine now. It looks and sounds great - I'm very happy :D The only thing I had a problem with was hanging the rear section from the new rubbers, so I've had to retain my knackered old ones for the time being. I just can't get the new rubbers to stretch enough to reach the hangers on the back box. Is there some kind of technique to getting the back ones on?

Right guys I need a manifold by say February next year as my car is booked into AAS... I missed the bandwagon unfortunately.

We need a minimum of 3 people for them to produce more 4-2-1 manifolds.

Is anyone interested?

Probly means how long it took an some people paying pete. Big group buys are always a pain. On the other hand the system look too nice to fit be better on a mantle piece or in a art gallery!

Aye true, although they're a pain, it's often the only way people can afford items, or get the order quantities high enough so manufacturers will produce the parts. A necessary evil  :)
