Title: Plastic shield under oil cap...
Post by: AdzCM on April 15, 2013, 07:40:35 pm
Rocker cover gasket was leaking something awful. So whipped it off and sorted it all out with gasket sealant etc...

Problem is, like an idiot, I forgot to put the wee plastic shield back in that sits under the oil filler cap. Is this really needed? Only thing I can think its for, is to stop oil hitting you in the face if you remove the oil cap when the engine is running [for whatever reason]....

Ill fit it back again when I do the next gasket change if Its not that important.

just remember you have not put it on. i quite frequently pull my oil cap off when its running and give it a check and a smell.
you will certainly remind yourself if you get hot oil on you.
