K03-015 is the KKK part code for the turbo. The 015 is the variant of the k03 turbo as there's a different ones fitted to different engines with different inlet and outlet arrangements. You just need one from a b5 passat 1.8t or an audi a4 of similar age with 1.8t.
If you don't want a chinese copy then you're looking at 2nd hand. Either ebay as Rocket has done there or scrapyards. They can be had for £50, both the ones I've got were £50.

been looking at the ones on ebay for between £198 - 209. suppose theyre all copies and not worth the hassle?
-
I've bought a couple first one from a motor spares place of ebay for 100 delivered, I reckon the seals have got on that after abotu 400 miles so I got one from a lad off another forum for 50.
-
check passat forums as people often sell them when upgrading tp k04
-
Keep an eye out on eBay. I looked for a few weeks for this one to come up for sale.
-
K03-005 is the usual variant from a Passat, but there are a few other variants that fit too.

This looks like one

yes. proper new ones will be three times that price, if not more.

Avoid the copies unless you're prepared to carry a spare and the tools to swap it. Some are okay, others are only worth their scrap value - even when new. I've seen too many fail now to recommend it, especially when a serviceable secondhand genuine item is less than half the price of a copy.

got afew now on my watch list. might as well buy one and rebuild it before i use or (or pay someone else to do it or i may snap a shaft again! lol).
-
Theres a few you can get dude my latest one is the k03 028 , i think this one is the k03s variant
-
got outbid on one on ebay i was bidding on. too busy changing my fuel filter to remember :(
-
was thinking of buying one of the copies from ebay and then rebuilding the internals using the parts from a legit K03 i have so i end up with a fresh turbo with a shiny casing.
thoughts?
-
I wouldn't bother with the chinese copies at all. None of the parts on them are up to standard.
-
Don't trust the yellows.

Exhaust housing on a turbo stay nice and clean and new looking for abpit ten minutes they always end up brown and horrible because of the heat.
By the time you have messed about buying a Chinese copy and a decent genuine used k03
stripped them both down rebuilt them and had it balanced you could probably have bought 3-4 decent used k03s

Been saying this for years, funnily enough, about the same time I met you.

The casings are made from old coke cans and whatever else falls in the shredder. The chinese turbos even fail on Robin, and he's genuinely Chinese, buy an old original and get it rebuilt, much safer bet.
