what a fucking weird looking thing!
bizarre aero modifications because of new 2009 rules and slick tyres they'll be using next year.
Will also have the KERS system which as far as I can figure out, is an array of batteries that get charged up during braking and then can be used to power a motor to give a temporary power boost.
-
Cleaner lines for clearer sponsers logos I suppose, all the little add on winglet things have been banned this year too.
It's gonna be one boost per lap from the regenerative braking thing, adds enough to overtake.
Should solve that issue when someone is clearly slower and holding someone up but not so much slower that they can get past. Less turbulent flow from that narrow rear wing too.
Anything that aids overtaking a good thing I reckon..
Power down too but made up for by running slicks so lap times will be about the same.
Does look weird though!
-
dunno I read they reckon lap times in general will be down a couple of seconds. Much less down force from the new aero rules apparently. But then slicks to make up some grip. Will be interesting to see what happens anyway.
-
More mechanical grip is the answer I think. The lack of overtaking due to all the 'dirty air' shit has killed it for years. We shall have to wait and see what happens next year, might take a race or two for it to sort itself out. Shame really its all changed considering the season we've had this year, might have been nice for it to carry on with these cars next year.
-
by the time everyone is just starting getting used to it they will only change it all again.

I just assumed they were expecting snow on the first race :D ;D :D
-
The stated reasons for many of the changes is to enable more oveer taking. One of the wierdest changes is ajustable front wings, where the driver can ajust the front wing twice per lap by upto 6 degrees!
-
Does this mean no more Trulli train? ;D

what a fucking weird looking thing!
Not yer ferrari 312b to be sure
-
Apparently Brundle has signed up for the commentary, which is good. Hopefully the "Stop James Allen ruining F1" campaign will be successful. :D
-
word is crazy-dave-coulthard will be doing some commentary too.
-
I know I've heard that too, I can gardly contain my excitement.
Seriously though I've a job to think of a more dull bloke!
-
I dunno actually, I know he seems a bit dull when doing interviews about his racing but I suppose he's not exactly allowed to have much of a laugh and a joke then. If BBC are seriously considering him then I'd have thought they must know he's got a personality in there somewhere, will be interesting to see anyway. Mind you, they also have Mark Lawrenson doing football punditry and he's the most boring person on the face of the earth.
-
Still think I'll watch MotoGP and Superbikes in preference (if there is no Le Mans series racing on the box)!
-
why can't they just leave it alone? At the very most, give them all the same car like A1 racing and not all this ferrari/mclaren out in front nonsense.
They might as well make each driver stop mid race and shoot at a target, kinda cross country skiing kinda thing!
-
they've confirmed the presenting team for the BBC now. DC is included!

Yep but only doing the Blundell bit which is bearable I suppose. I dont know the other guy they've drafted in from 5 live but hey as long as its not James bloody Allen who cares.
