Title: Bay welding cost
Post by: AlexG40 on September 17, 2012, 08:07:21 pm
Anyone know what I should expect to pay to have me bay stitch welded? Ive got the engine out so seems a good opportunity.

£200ish I reckon. More if you want them to clean off the seam sealer first and re-seal afterwards - you need to drop the front struts to seal the rear of the welds if you get the turrets done too.

Is there a particular type of welder (not as in equipment but more the kind of professional) that I need to look for?  Sounds daft but I know nowt about this stuff.

MIG is fine mate, the main pain is getting all the underseal off (both sides) prior to welding, I'd have thought most mobile welders are either MIG or Arc.

Most mobile welders should be able to do it, it's a couple of hours work if you've prepped the whole bay, also worth getting a bar welded inbetween the NS chassis leg whilst the welder is round.

Read my thread for the process and post welding prep (takes a while)
