Post by: xrrich on June 21, 2011, 06:17:40 pm
Hi,
I was replacing my manifold today, and when i got it off, i noticed it was leaking coolant from here?

Havent fitted new manifold yet so would be easier to fix

Is this a easy fix? and whats the part called if i need to order it, Maybe a cheeky guide of how to?

Any comments will be much appreciated
Rich

Core plug- pain in the arse if it doesn't come out whole!

Can get them new from VW, they're quite cheap last time I got some, if you can get a slide hammer with a screw attachment on the end it's easiest, you might have to remove the rad to get enough room, but doable in the car.

Make sure your coolant mix is 50/50 when it's back in  :)

Thankyou, yeah can you prise out with a screwdriver?
Does the new one need sealing with some sealant or does it have it's own seal.
Thanks

You'd be doing well to- slide hammer is a safer bet as it won't damage the block, prising against it with a screwdriver might.

They're an interferance fit, so no need to use any sealant really- you also want them to come out if the coolant freezes (should stop the block cracking) so don't cement them in  :)
