Hi all,
my Name is Chris. I`m 50 years old and live in Regensburg / Bavaria / Germany. I`m a G40 Fan since 1989 cause I could test one of the first limited G40. So I licked blood and at the 19.04.1991 I got my first G40 which I own until today.
Meanwhile I have 3 G40 in my garage. One stock model - unfortunately with a crash, then my first G40 as a Slalom race car and a 16V G40 for hillclimb. The last two with G60 superchargers. So the 8 valve has 218hp and the 16V among 280hp.
I started motorsports in 1992 and finished in 2002. After a break of about 8 years I started again - the virus is deep iside of me. Since last year my son owns his driving licence and so father and son are "racing in the streets" (as Bruce sings..).

I think your orange car is quite well known even in the UK. Very impressive car, any videos of it in action?
I also like the staggered wheel track on the black one (by that I mean wider track width at the front). Have this on mine too only no where near as much!

Excellent cars- I've had pictures of both of these for years, and they've always been a source of inspiration!
What gearbox do you use, I presume 6-speed sequential, Sadev?

Hi Pete,
thank`s a lot for your feedback. Didn`t think that there would have been some information about this car in GB. That`s a Golf 02A Gearbox modifies as a dogbox. The gear wheels were made by Kerschbaumer in Germany. 6-speed with H, no sequential shift. So I had to use a 20mm Aluminium plate to connect engine and gearbox - and by the way I had to veer the engine among 20° to the front. This was very tricky because many things have to be changed (engine mounts, oil pan, exhaust system......) For that the generator had to move from the front of the engine to the backside......
Quite a very looooong story....

thank you for comment and the "willkommen"! From the 8V Polo there are some videos avaliable - look for u-tube Bergrennen St. Agatha or iberg Gruppe H Berg Cup(unfortunately I don`t have the link avaliable at the moment)
The wider track results of 9" wheels at the front. The plastic parts are from the same mold as the 16V hillclimb Polo - even a little bit smaller. The 16V has 10,5" wheels at the front. Both have wishbones at the front axle. The 16V wb is longer than the wb of the 8V.
The mold is quite simple - it`s made as a cone. I laminate this parts by myselve.

wow i have seen your pictures around and the videos of your polo's and have searched plenty of times for some info on them as they are a major influence on how i want my g40.
thanks for joining our forum and sharing some info.
please post as many pictures of your builds and info as you like as it would help lots.
especially pictures of the front wishbone and suspension setups on the car ;D ;D ;D

Some good power your putting out on the 16v, what was the engine from?

not as good as a subframe surely, as they aren't stiffening the front end up in the same way. Interesting though...

Oh yeah i see what you mean. Would be good if you could make them wishbones onto a subframe.

Are they both still 1272cc or have you increased the bore and/or stroke?

love your cars it has to be said the are amazing im very interested in the 16v conversion as nowone in the uk has this done to their car as far as i am awhere so any info on how to do this would be of great assistance as i am intending on building a 1.5 16v g60 at some point in the future

Hi Jezza,
there`s a subframe too. So the front and rear fix point is matched by a subframe (Unterfahrschutz). Without subframe the system would be much to weak.

Wolfgang Zwießler sponsored me when I did
hillclimb racing in Gruppe H from 1995 to 2003. He doesn`t live in Germany since a couple of years. The sticker on the wing and the wing is from the 16V. So the telephone number doesn`t exist any longer - but it remembers me at the old days....

Those wishbones and subframe setup are along the lines of what i
had in mind for mine.
I have simular drawings.
Is that a Alternator belt used to hang the Exhaust back box.
So glad you posted all this here as it`s inspiration to us all.

yes thats an alternator belt under the exhaust. Many years ago one of the suspension rubbers broke and I had to stop race. With that belt I`m always at the shure side
