HnR Kit now sold to Jezza-M, will be on standard suspension by the end of the royal wedding weekend.

Using the car daily, so can be demostrated for any test drives, which are welcomed, however the car will not be drivable by anyone other than myself due to insurance purposes.

Yo,

Brand new backbox (std g40) fitted and changed the rear springs back to standard as I was getting fed up with constantly ripping the old box off with it being so low. The front is still lowered 60mm on spax springs ( and had new wheel bearings and top mounts 1k ago) rear drivers wheel bearing has also been replaced.
Fitted new thermostat, g12 plus plus coolant, new exhaust manifold and downpipe gaskets and painted the exhaust manifold and charger bracket black.

Also fitted brand new oem charger belts.

I can't believe you've been trying to sell this for a year!!!  :D It's not funny, but it is pretty insane.
G40's aren't shit, have this many people really not got any money?

Hey Flor,

It's just surprising that no-ones even come to view it, had lots of calls, texts and emails but none come to fruition as people keep asking me whats the lowest I'd take, and I tell them to come view it first before I'm prepared to discuss any price-drops.

I've not really pushed the sales either on ebay/pistonheads etc, as I've been using the car pretty much daily for the last year and its been faultless. Just finished the turbo so I can crack on with fixing the Peril again, and have 3 cars on the road, and then it will definatly be surplus to requirements!

I've seen a few sell for sub £1,700 and always see posts from new owners who have umpteen amount of problems.

Good luck with the sale of yours dudette!

Car returned 40 mpg on a motorway run (328 miles to 52 quid) and 36 mpg combined (308) to 49 the other day.

put 15 quid the other day and ran the car to the red, and got 108 miles.

MOT expires on the 29th, tax on the 31st.

If anyone wants to take it off my hands pre-mot its yours for 1800 no offers, after MOT price will be back up at 1995

Hi there mate, so what needs to be done on the car eg rust etc???
Title: Re: Genuine G40 Polo
Post by: grungeisdead on February 22, 2012, 11:58:34 am
bar a slightly flaky battery tray, the rest of the rust spots are pictured in the first post (small bit by rear of drivers door, and bottom of drivers wing)

apart from the that the car doesnt really want for nothing, and should provide some happy daily G smiles.

Fitting lowered rear shocks and springs today in near new condition, realinging the exhaust, refitting a side trim and doing an oil and filter change.

do need to whip the charger off and replace the timing belt for a gen. gates item as its not been done this year (just as a matter of course)

Otherwise prior to having it MOT'd I will sell for 1800 with the spares

Also it passes the mot then would you consider doing 1900 with the 12 months mot and spares?

Nope and engine is now on 111k, shell on 193k.

The spares will be fitted pre-mot anyway

its not been rolling roaded with this engine in, the charger is a stage 2 jabba and it has a slightly ported throttle body, bar that engine is standard, so a little over the standard figures but not much.

Took a trip up Scotland over the Easter hols for my cousins wed, recorded some milages

235miles to 40 quid at 137.9 which works out at 36.7mpg - 80 miles were A Road blatting, rest was motorway chilling
310miles to 20 quid at 137.9 , 40 quid at 139.9, which works out at 32.6 mpg - 27 miles around Edinburgh city, 235 return leg, driving steady all the way with a couple of full boost a road overtakes, and a 52 mile round trip to work on Monday.

Bits that have been changed recently.

-Cars had another oil and filter change
-new thermostat housing as the old one was leaking slightly (cracked around one of the bolt holes
-replaced lower track control arms, as the ball joints had too much movement, these were fitted with standard bushes. I have the polybushes if required, but they had degraded quite alot, so steering feels tighter without them.

I need to fit the new bootlock and a new drivers door side trim, as the old one was rough
Currently trying to find the source of a rotational noise on the front, next job is to swap out a driveshaft, side by side and check if its a CV joint causing it.
