Hmmm I did hear about that. Pretty scary, it sounds like someone knew what they are after and were targeting them. Any ideas who it could be? I did wonder about that, has someone been to you both recently?

Tom aint bought or sold anything in a while. Toms just looks like a white polo, cos its a 1l g40 convert. but... its all stripped out so that could be a clue theres a trick under the bonnet.

Can't think off top of my head who's been round last few months, no one I wouldn't trust anyway, sayin that u never know, gonna keep an eye out for newly registered forum members with few posts selling G40 spares, whoevers taken this has got to be local. Luckily they've only caused damage to mine, if I find them they'd best get ready.
Title: Re: Stolen G40
Post by: SamG40 on January 14, 2011, 09:03:31 am
Yeah I completely agree Tom, got to be someone local.

Etches I'd get a recent picture up of it plastered on every forum you can think of, all the vag ones, retro rides, sheffield forum etc. You never know the high exposure might make a difference.

also look on vaux forums, as the mos I believe are vaux offset.

sounds like someone wants a g40 engine at any cost.  Which if its the case will be in an undeclared conversion i dare say

that really sucks.

I assume it's been reported to the police and what not?

I'd recommend getting pictures of it up on all the car forums you can like Sam said.

There's a world of little turds out there just looking to fuck you up and I really feel sorry for Etches; it could be any one of us. With that in mind how about offering a reward for information leading to an arrest. If we were to stick a fiver in the kitty each for such an event, we could offer a reasonable sum and stick it on the forums. A willingness to defend ourselves might be a deterrent as well.

What a shitter >:(, must be someone local. Did you have the engine number of your conversion? If so, log it knicked with the police/DVLA then at least it might find its way back quicker if its parted out! Any engine on Ebay with ground off number will be a big clue too.

Keep watching eBay, you may see someone braking a G40 or selling a whole load of parts, if you do see this then pretend to be interested and ask for year of vehicle and colour!
It's hard to keep a stolen motor now! Good luck

In an ideal world that sounds just fine, but when you get your pride and joy back and it's had the arse ragged out of it, your insurance isn't going to cover it. Insurance doesn't cover the skinned knuckles, the  other things you do without in life and your time spent working on your car either. The only satisfaction you get in circumstances like this is finding out who and where...then

Bad times lads.  I really hope you get your pride and joys back.  I can't imagine how it'd feel to have something you love so much and have spent so long working on nicked.  I really hate the 'take what I want' attitude of some of the scum we have to live amoungst.
Title: Re: Stolen G40
Post by: cheys03 on January 20, 2011, 02:05:48 pm
I had a thought that someone may be using the G40 register thread to target cars, but neither of these two recent successful thefts are on the list.
Title: Re: Stolen G40
Post by: scotsjohn on January 20, 2011, 06:10:24 pm
As Pete G40 says, the only way these thefts are going to work is as un-declared conversions. There's too small a pool of cars to hide them otherwise. Also, any ways and means suggested on this forum of catching the Kuntz responsible are probably being monitored by them. If you've got something worth while to contribute, PM the idea to the guys who've been screwed.
Title: Re: Stolen G40
Post by: hayesey on January 20, 2011, 07:21:07 pm
I've always been a bit concerned about the register just being used a a target list for thieves but it doesn't seem to be the case here if these two werent even on it.

Still no word from the coppers more than a week on. Looks like saving up for a new car, being a student its not guna be easy!

I wouldn't rely on the coppers to get back to you, personally after a week I'd be giving them a call for any new info.
Best of luck mate. I really hope you get it back in good condition.

Title: Re: Stolen G40
Post by: kayl0rz on January 22, 2011, 11:14:51 am
Toms told me it was seen on truck, and then the po-po went and arrested the guy with the truck after, and the car was already at the scrappy.

fingers crossed they didnt use the claw to take it off the truck :/ also it might have already had bits off it depending on when it was taken there.

They are going down to have a look at 12pm

The scrappy is called Walter Heselwood ltd.... walter best watch his arse, cos hes gonna get raped for taking a stolen car with no v5!

Every car at that place looked completely fucked, cant see how thats recycling. A guy who had no teeth said that they were shut. Odds are that its completely fucked. Coppers coming round monday morning ill be giving her plenty of info. Gutted though cos the cars that i saw where the guy took it were mashed

Hope the sod who owns the place ends up with no teeth too. If it came in on a truck then he probably knows who it came from too.

if you get wheels and engine back at least, thats some consolation.  And hopefully recieving stolen goods at least!

Post by: hardchargin40 on January 22, 2011, 04:38:10 pm
Glad its been located, like you say he should know who he got it off.  As you've normally got to sign for it to them so if he's a numpty and used his real name maybe in for some luck prosecuting!  I had to sign my V5 over to them and another one of their forms when I scrapped my track car.

Hope its in a salvageable condition!

Glad to hear there may be culprits apprehended :) The sad thing is though, being a metal recyclers and not a car breakers means its probably been cubed (baled). These places are always surrounded with knicked stuff like robbed church roof lead, bronze memorials etc. Its likely to be a Pikey who robbed your car got cash and left fake residence >:( I reckon the alloys might still be knocking around the back somewhere though.

my missus's uncle used to work there, he said theyre dodgy as fuck there and should all be locked up, the number of insurance scams they used to pull off was unreal, he told me of crushing 3 brand new mini coopers once and also a 3door rs500 all for insurance claims.
i'd say lock all the fuckers up for taking cars without logbooks,

why have you not gone to the scrapyard? confused! if it was my car i would be down there kicking off or at least use some bolt cutters and get your car back with a load of mates!

Title: Re: Stolen G40
Post by: Etches on January 26, 2011, 08:19:54 pm
Its not a scrap yard, its a metal yard. They wont let you in to look to start. Its as said in one of the above posts in

http://www.heselwood.com/

which is in attercliff. In that side of town you dont just go breaking into em, that sort of folk do not give a shit about the law.

So I am waiting for the police officer to come round and explain what they are doing.
Title: Re: Stolen G40
Post by: DKnight on January 26, 2011, 09:32:40 pm
but surely if it is there, the police get it straight away, god damn it will be raped by now, what fucking cocks

so have you been down and looked or anything?

i agree!

i still dont get why you have not been! it may be a metal yard but they have your car!

lol i can see it now if that was any of my friends or even a friend of a friends car we would be down there in a big group lots of cars and a couple of 4x4' and found out what was going on!

Post by: PeteG40 on January 27, 2011, 08:21:34 am
I kind of agree..

but the other part of me thinks it might be dead anyway so keep out - added to the fact that attercliffe is one place in sheffield i would definately not venture after dark!

I tryed to get in to have a look but they dont open to general public only to metal traders. Coppers have put me off more than a week now ffs!

The fact that ive been burgled today only adds to how pissed off i am!

Weird that you would ask that mate , the coppers rang me this morning and came round at 11. Apparently they are going to the scrap yard tmz, the guy who took the car will prob be taken to court and im going to give a witness statement. THe copper managed to get a pic of my car and a 5 page statement about it from me. Told her about the restoration, work and cost of the car so will have to see what happens. Getting my new car tmz will let you guess what it is lol.
Would be nice to get some compensation though from my old one.
