I'm assuming you've got a toothed belt set-up mate; if that's so then probable causes for it coming off are either the alternator or charger aren't sitting squarely. Loose rear mounting on the charger is the first to check. The belt itself shouldn't be too tight; you should be able to twist it through 90 degrees on it's longest run by using finger and thumb.

as in the mount that holds it to the block?
-
Have you got the mount that goes onto the exhaust manifold?
-
i have it but no on the car but it hasnt been an issue up untill about 3 weeks ago
-
i have put the mount back on the exhaust and im just waiting on the battery to charge n whilst thats happening i best gett digging!
-
Yeah i run mine without that mount and its been fine, but strange for yours just to start slipping. Whats the wear like on the pulleys?
-
they look alright to me!
-
not one of those ebay kits again is it?

psd

hmm ok, shouldnt have problems with it if it is in good condition then. I'd suggest something is out of alignment, exhaust mount shouldn't make a difference.
-
how should i go about realigning them?
-
Strip off the belt and check the individual pulleys for tightness; particularly the alternator pulley. On my PSD kit, the alternator pulley had the wrong size keyway for the alternator shaft and eventually chewed it up with consequent belt wander. If all's well, you'll need a straight edge long enough to lay from the crankshaft pulley to the charger pulley. You can then use this to find if there's a pulley out of line.

if its the alternator pulley what do i do smash it with a hammer?

Smashing things under the bonnet with a hammer isn't really the way to treat your G40 mate. Either use your brain a bit; find a local G owner who can help; or sell the car to someone who'll give it some respect. Situations like this are a pain in the arse but when they're sorted properly you get more pleasure from your car and you've a bit more knowledge up your sleeve.

Don't know what the OP's problem is with a bit of hammer time. I find it's often the answer to life's more complex problems.
