Title: The G
Post by: AlexG40 on November 13, 2010, 07:05:42 pm
Ok,

So I started with a 36k mile ebay 1.0 CL bad boy:

Then over three years or so added the following:

FK Konigsport Coilovers
A built-on-the-car PPP Stage 3 Subframe
256mm Brakes

Some steel wheels in 14 x 6 flavour with Toyo Proxes T1-R 195/45/14 tyres:

A full body re-spray in the original Pearl Grey (Reflex Auto Designs) including removal of the aerial, rear wiper, side spats and badges. Plus a bit of bumper fettlage:

And next a G40 engine with the following spec:

PPP Chip
PSD 4-Branch manifold and full s/s system.
An R1 Charger with a PSD induction kit.
PSD Toothed belt kit.
BRV Mod.

Then I played about with interiors for a while but bought a pair of these:

And decided in the end to do this:

So that the boys at PPP www.poloperformanceparts.co.uk (http://"www.poloperformanceparts.co.uk") could do this:

A bit of matt black paint, some OMP harnesses and a new steering wheel later:

Then some bits of carbon and a Stack Wideband AFR and an old faithful boost gauge:

And this is what I'm left with:

Big thanks to Pete and Andy at PPP for the cage work. The quality of the work and the fit of the cage is amazing (just ask my mate who helped me re-fit the headlining!) and the car feels amazing to drive now. So tight and flat in the twistys.  I'd highly recommend their products and fitting services to anyone. Click here for their website. (http://"http://www.poloperformanceparts.co.uk/")

Some of you may have seen the car in it's previous guise with the burgandy leather, I'm bored of the shows now so I figured fast-road/trackday slag with the ability to still look ok would tick the boxes for me.

Hope you like.

That looks totally mint Alex. 8)
Superb paint finish inside and out, stunning car.
Can I ask what you paid for the car? All the MK2/3 Polos I see on the 'bay are expensive for what they are.

As I said on Club Polo it looks up to your usual standard!

I'm trying to achieve similar things but I'm sure they wont be up to your level.

Fecking fantastic! I wish one of these cages was an option a few years ago when I bought my roll cage, from the photos it looks the same quality as yoof's (which is to be expected) and it is brilliant.

Lovley car, if you don't mind me asking how much was the cage?

The car was circa £900 when I bought it...I would have paid more tbh because the shell was so good.

The price for the cage...I'm pretty sure Yoof will be able to give you prices for all the options when he sees I've finally got the pics done..

Thanks for the comments. Means a lot.  :)

Car is a credit to you, and doing things properly, can't wait to see this ripping round a track!

Regarding cage prices- I'll update our website soon with pictures/prices of the three options, basically a half cage, full cage (Alex's), and the same spec as mine (through turrets & more bars).

Engine bay has to be one of the best OEM bays ever  8)

Yeah as yoof says that engine bay looks lovely.

The whole car looks fantastic. Best colour for a G40 IMO.

What did you do with the wash tank?

Jezza, the wash tank is on a shelf in the garage. I have no washer jets, I'll probably put some in for the track though, I think it would be wise. I've got a Bailey oil separator to fit next and some stub axle shims to get a bit more clearance between the coils and the tyres.
