Post by: wbaxter90 on July 22, 2010, 06:58:40 pm
changing a charger belt?
ive been ill this week so my car still has a snapped belt, me and a mate were guna have a crack at it, were guna use a cam belt until i scope out a decent belt, but how hard is it to put one on? dont you slide the charger across and adjust the tensioning? also how can i test my pulley alignment? as it was a suggested cause of the belt snapping. cheers

top bolt - 10mm allen key

side tensioning bolt - 19mm head normal bolt

loosen both. take belt off- replace belt.  Tension by putting a breaker bar in 1/2" hole in charger mounting bracket, while doing up both bolts.

Why use a cam belt with wrong tooth profile????  a HTD 1000 8m 20mm wide machine belt (presuming thats what your kit uses) will be as strong and available through bearing/seal/machine shop places locally to you.

Just order a belt from Pete. At least you'd know it was the right belt.
