Hi everyone,
Im pretty new to all this forum stuff. I;ve put a couple of posts up about things but thats about it.
I thought Id introduce myself properly.......Im Charlie. And yes I am female!!
I've just bought a Polo GT Coupe with a G40 engine in it. Shes a bit rough around the edges but after a bit of work hopefully i will get her looking good again.
Work has already started.
The seats are out and on ebay and standard G40 ones have been purchased.
I'm going to collect some new wheels on sunday.
The front bumper is off to be resprayed.
Then its service and MOT time and we'll be on the road getting ready for some shows. ;D

Hi Charlie, welcome to the forum. I'm quite new to it all myself, only signed up in December. There's lot's of info in old posts and FAQs, and there are some very knowledgable guys willing to help and advise. Hopefully this will mean my G gets back on the road with the minimum of problems!
As for the wheels, le castellets? ;) Bought some for mine too, I'll get round to polishing them at some point.

I love Le Castalettes. I saw some black ones for sale on Club Polo but they'd sold. So my lovely willing partner has agreed to try his hardest to make mine look like the lovely black ones.
I cant wait to get the G on the road. We towed her back as its been sat for 3 years and we want to do a full fluid change before driving her!!! This is my first experience of a supercharged car too. So it should be interesting!!!!
I was looking at getting a valver but I saw the G's and fell in love. Lol.I only wanted a car for trips to the shop and to take my 1year old to play group!! :D The other mums will love me when i roar in!! Haha.
Good luck getting your car up together. You will have to put lots of piccys up. Progress reports!! 8)

Yeah we got straight into the work the day after we got the car home and recovered from the Sat Nav taking us down loads of single track roads!! Definitely a hair raising experience!!!! >:(
USC is the main one planned for this year. A weekend off from being a mum and a chance to drink excessive amounts of alcohol!! But I havent checked any others out....just incase a massive problem arises and the car doesnt end up on the road.
She will defo be going up the strip at USC though. Want to see what she has got. But need to get used to the 4 paddle clutch first....or i'll end up stalling at the start!! I'd die i think. Haha. ;D

Been fairly busy on the Polo since we got her, a little update.
Supercharger currently getting serviced, although should be back soon.
Standard wing mirrors
Badgeless grill waiting to go on with GT badge
removed rear wiper
G40 interior put in
Full service with new expansion tank and coolent
New boost gauge
New clear indicators
New smoked side repeaters
Engine bay painted gloss black and tidyed
Roof gloss black
14" Le' Castelletes in gloss black waiting for 195/45/14 tyres to be put on
New front and rear bumpers in black plastic
Waiting for mounting brackets to mount carbon firbre sheet to scuttle panel to cover ecu,battery, etc
Rear washer jet relocated to point at Intercooler
Late spec rear lights
Lots more still to do, and ill add some more pictures when i have more time!

Update!
Spent some time on the 'G' over the last few days. Managed to get the rubber on the wheels, Underseal the inner arches and paint calipers, struts and clean anything that looked a bit dirty.
Also managed to fit the rest of the G40 interior in.

I know the front looks a little bit high, which is why i have some 60mm springs to fit as i think it currently running 40mm all round!

The G40 is now fully legal and on the road. It passed its MOT with only a few little Minors, my main worries were the brakes as the car has been sat for over 3 years and the only brake work i done was fit a handbrake cable that had snapped on the drivers side drum and renew the brake fluid and bleed the system.
As i currently speak the car is running really well after breaking in the charger yesterday, just need to go round the car and double check everything is tight.

PeteG40 - No i havent sorted the water light out yet, the wires were breaking down inside the connector, like they had been twisted around,etc. So they pretty much fell out the plug Lol. But i joined them together and the light still comes on and flashes!! :'(
A friend of mine is looking at it this weekend with a multi meter so hopefully we will find out the problem.
Also when i told you what sort of temps the car runs at and you said it was a bit low, well i found a receipt from a few years ago when someone took it to a garage to find why the low temps, they changed the temps sensors with no effect and put it down to a possible ECU fault, could this be true?
Hayesey - No i wont be going the polo show this year, we are going upto USC the week after with friends,etc. But hopefully we will still have it to goto it next year!!

if sensors are new and thermostat good - it'll probably be a rogue dash panel, my red g40 reads low compared to the other g40s i've had

low temp reading isn't going to be the ECU, probably a not very accurate thermostat. They can be luck of the draw, I've bought new from VW and they've ran a bit cool. A bit less temp is good for power though :)

I took the clocks out to have a look what was going on behind to see if they were getting caught up, etc. Since putting it back in the light has gone out and everything is working fine, really starting to enjoy driving it now.
'G' smiles all round!!!! :D

my cars pretty shitty looking atm im in the process of making up a GT ive got a sweet shell just need to get my engine in it! send me a message or somehting if your free :) !
