Title: oil loss
Post by: tdh-syorks on March 13, 2010, 05:35:51 pm
i have just took my G out for a good run and the oil buzzer came on after around 20 miles or so, i immediately pulled up and let her cool down, i checked the oil and the dipstick was bone dry, the thing is its been stood a while and only started up once a week in the garage, when i last checked the oil level was fine, the cars not breathing extra heavy or smoking.
any ideas guys??

Cheers Tom

I put around 2 and a half litres in just until it reached bottom of dipstick. I'm gonna check it again this morning :-[

surely not suddenly - you think you'd get smoke when booting it.

Check inside boost pipes for oil, then i'd do a compression test, it may be that headgasket has gone, but it'd be burning it off in either case

yeah thats the thing, its not burning oil off, i did notice a few weeks ago its burning a lot of condensation from the zaust but thats surely cos its been stood, been out today and its sweet, just the loss of oil issue, cant figure it out,

There's no way it will burn that amount in twenty miles. Have a look at the charger feed and return, especially the return pipe. There's not a lot to leak from them when you're shut down so you might not see too much on the garage floor, but once you're up and running it's a differant matter.
