Started October 18th 2007...
Grew up seeing this shoot round and now i own it...
no tax or mot, 1.4 diesel, 4 speed, nasty colour, and a lovely flooshed boot! hahaha idiots!
Really fancied another as i miss the practicality of them...

well took for mot, clutch is very nearly gone, but drove relatively alright!
failed on both front to rear brake pipes, now has a 12 month ticket and tax and is gracing the roads once again

opted for a mk2 gti 8v digifant engine, i am currently toying with a 20v turbo, bu tits just too much money and effort
got one wing back after widening very slightly, they are just how i wanted not too much, but enuff to hide the wideness :D
The lip on the arch is still as it was, needs pulling out a few mm and we are rocking!
:D:D

well not updated for a while, didnt get much done over xmas, but this last week made progress, rear arches are in for welding this saturday, aswell as front bumper holes welding up and a few other little bits...
then i can get the last bit of filla done and painted up...
Engine i stripped bottom end leaving the pistons etc, new gaskets everywhere, new water pump, cam belt etc
Ordered a 4branch just because, old manifold was a shit to fit remove lol
Decided to let the steel wheels go, they just wouldnt work, as they were too thin for the look i was going for, so got some g60 steelies (how original lol) cheapish so they will do till i find the right wheels
head is now off and gunna prob strip that, might aswell do it now really, my costs are so much more than i planned
will add the few pics later
and that now brings us up to date
Decided to cut the caddy bed out as it was rotten and repair was a bit pointless, engine is in and now running, just need to sort the fuel pump and re fit the tank lol

a wise decision cutting out that flat bed by the looks of it. Caught the rust before it spread to the chassis hopefully. Are you just going to weld a big flat plate in?
-
i was thinking alloy plate, but im unsure really, how could i mount the alloy plate in?
-
rivets would work I guess.
-
Oh man... Lots of rust...
-
the rust wasnt too bad at all, mostly just surface, and the bad sections i just cut out and will weld plates in!

Lovely job... Well done!

Do you have a body repair shop?
-
na do i buggery! i cant even weld, i just borrow the guy next door!
its mearly a hobby!

LOL
Repairing retro cars is fun...
I personally prefer fixing my G than playing with pc/ps2
