i think supercharged spaniel wrote a buyers guide which is somewhere on here...
most have done over 100k, but test drive them as my one on 100k is really strong and tight, quiet car.
charger history is essential
rust in the usual places.
cracks in nearside chassis leg

Sweet yeh i had a quick search and couldnt find anything relivent.
ok thanks, i will check the obv
How often should the charger been serviced/rebuilt.
Cheers for the advice dude

When i bought mine the previous owner never had the charger serviced and i cant find no receipts to show either but its running strong still. Although in 9 years of owning it he did about 10k. Just look for loads of receipts for parts and that and im sure it will be fine. As everyone always says, charger history. If there is no histroy for it bear in mind its around £300 to get done, £340 from jabba.

Sound what is a good price for a good condition one say 100-150 thousand miles.
ive always had cars with low low milages so just seems scary buyig one, but if they have been looked after i suppose its all gravvyy?
-
they don't seem to be selling for as much as they used to, probably about 1500 to 2grand. Closer to 2 grand for a good example. As jezza says i'd probably factor in about 400quid for a charger rebuild and good service straight away, unless your sure its in good nick

enjoy your read
like said 2000-2500 will get you a good one

Mine had a decent enough service and was in good nick. No rust on mine. I picked it up for £1500 with a private plate.
No charger history and had a dodgy gearbox only to find out it was a GT box when it broke 4-5 months later.
I spent £300 on a box that was tight and had only done 60k. If i had done my charger straight away then it would cost £340 so you could say without them problems i should have bought it for 2K.

Cheers guys some very useful information look forward to having another g member in the next couple of months :)

With a g40 with over 140,000 miles. is it worth getting?
If its had services regulary.
Or would i need to rebuild engine very soon.
how long do these engine go on forr?
-
depends on how its been driven etc etc. How long is a piece of string??? i've seen a reeeeeealy strong one on 125k and a really underpowered in need of a strip down at similar mileage
-
mines on 164k now ha ha runs sweet. To be fair a ton of parts are new but the bare bones are still original so they can go one for many a mile. Theres a fair few that have done many more than mine. Can't believe ive done 64k in it.
