Post by: PeteG40 on September 14, 2009, 10:51:45 am
right, after some extensive research and now testing...   I can to supply rebuild kits for g40s and one off spares should people need them. Each part is the same as a g60 apart from the centre bearing

Viton oil seals - the same as a g-werks and psd chargers i recently serviced (size and make)
2x scroll £13 each  - £25 the pair
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2440.jpg)
1x outlet side £5.00 each
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2441.jpg)
1x inner pulley side - £7.50 each
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2438.jpg)
1x outer pulley side - £7.50 each
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2439.jpg)

full set £40
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2442.jpg)

FAG bearings
2x countershaft bearings £5 each
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2448.jpg)
Uprated SKF top bearings (low friction seals £10 each
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_30351.jpg)
1x pulley side main bearing £6.50
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2444.jpg)
1x outlet side bearing (these are often not replaced as they can be hard to get out and they are a dear bearing) £43
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2453.jpg)

1x IKO scroll bearing (IKO have been in PSD/Gwerks Chargers) £18
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2445.jpg)

Full set of normal bearings £70, with uprated top bearings £80

Optibelt/Gates - as used originally - but 12mm wide timing belt £6
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2437.jpg)

1x set of apex seals.  Remade for us in Sintimid beige compound as used by vw in the 1993 (the same company!) onwards supercharger. Beware of rolls of cheap stuff being sold on ebay - this is massproduced crapola.  These are cut to oem specs and are aperfect fit
 £65 a set
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2435.jpg)

£175 - full set £185 with uprated top bearings (incl a set of casing bolts)

top scroll bearings - obsolete from FAG, but this is as supplied by max-rpm and bartek £42
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_30361.jpg)

for £3 can also supply a set of 12.9 zinc coated bolts for the casing
(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k258/peteg40/IMG_2447.jpg)

NOW i can supply bonding agent for the seals - as used on g-ladersiete.de./maxrpm - good stuff £7 for 10g

30g of kluber grease - brilliant stuff - charger needs to be apart to use though! £5

Would be well intrested, could help fill in the gaps of what I can't get if you sold individual parts. Could almost get everything bar a few seals a bearing and strip seals are a bitch to get hold of.

Would be an awesome service!

Are the bearings particularly hard to remove pete?

Post by: PeteG40 on February 08, 2010, 09:22:54 am
you need to heat the casings to remove bearings and use a freezer/heat to fit new ones

Cheers, Andy.

I am thinking of having a go at this. My chager is weeping a bit of oil and although i was told its been serviced i don't believe it.  I'm not the most mechanically handed of people but i have a couple of weeks off over Xmas so seems a good time to try this. Where can i get a copy of the instructions so i can have a look and see if this is do-able for me? If i'm happy to have a crack then i'll order a kit. Also any advice on what else i should be doing other than replacing the bits would be much appreciated, ie. cleaning how/what to would be really useful.

apologise if these are very naive questions but i have no experience.

thanks in advance
Ben

ey up, got a set of seals, bearings and kluber grease in stock? dont think i need the apex seal strips the ones in the charger look ok

whats the damage maestro as i can get adam to pick up them on his travels to you at the weekend

Post by: PeteG40 on February 16, 2011, 07:44:43 pm
look ok? looks can be deceptive! the limit between new and fecked is 0.2mm - so you need to use a vernier caliper to measure whether they are actually ok or not.  as new - lots of boooost, worn out, not so much boooost.

got all the bits in stock yeah. £45 for the seals, £65 for the bearings - kluber £5 so £115 altogether.

im a pikey lad, ill stick it together with fresh seals and bearings and see what happens, if its not boosting well, then ill replace the apex seals, no point replacing if they are fine and its easy enough to split the charger down to replace the seals.

saves spending money when its not absolutely neccessary! fair point about grabbing some verniers though, i did have a set but broke the screen (digis)

ill take a gates belt as well mush, and either give ads the dollar or come along for the trip.

cheers :)

bring the apex seals - i can measure them if you want.

though i've messaged ad - you might have to swing by dk's (15 min from me) to get the heavy shit as i'm not sure i'll have time to pick it up before sun.

Apparently, I have a stage 4 charger but I have no real way of confirming this.  Its blown a seal and needs a rebuild.  Would this kit have all the necessary parts to service it or would I need anything extra?

Cheers.

if its a jabba stage 4 then it'll  be engraved as such by jabba.

Yes they do - extras such as kluber grease, seal bonder bolts are recommended, but not essential.

Just got some new bearings 'RS' Spec from Bartek Tuning.. workoing out a price to supply these.

But the rev rating of these is 22,000 rpm instead of the 13,000 with normal top countershaft bearings!!! and seals just as good too!!!

http://www.bar-tek-tuning.com/lshop,showdetail,25763,en,1333567968-25801,g-lader.1132925576,1100007,9,Tshowrub--g-lader.1132925576,.htm  they aren't viton but that shouldn't matter. (they come direct from bartek as i've got an account there)

Hey pete

Do you possibly have time to rebuild a g60 charger?
i actually would do my g40 charger, but seeing this g60 charger is going to be under some stress and am just depending on it being perfect...
Also brian at jabba doesnt seem to fit or supply or even know much about these "high rpm bearings" and i dont wanna lose out on better equipment ..
