Right, discussed this and whilst tatton park is a cool chilled out show, its only a one dayer so people don't really bother with it. however what has been discussed is a g40 rally in the peaks the day before.
So this is a feeler to see who'd be interested
Start off with a spot of lunch and meet at the ladybower inn http://www.ladybower-inn.co.uk/
the go on the a57 (snake pass main manchester to sheffield road) to tintwhistle, then from tintwhistle to penistone on the woodhead pass (a second sheffield to manchester road - both are quite hilly undulating roads but can be quite busy, but have decent scenery for major a roads. Then over the strines (very hilly, very hairpinny) back to the meet point (all these are quite popular with bikers)
then going towards castleton (of blue john stone fame - with its caverns) there is a small campsite in a place called hope. Here we can camp, walk into castleton and have some beers at some of the many pubs/eateries. The whole journey is about 60 miles

then the next day the show is about 30 miles away but we go through some more peak district roads from hope to buxton then on the famous cat and fiddle road and in an hour be at the show to chill all day.

Tatton Park is on the 10th of August I believe Dan so will be the day before. Should be top if we can get a few to this!

Yep, sure am up for this :D Makes a nice change from the normal show routine.

Takes in Snakes Pass and Winnats Pass (near Castleton). As Pete mentioned, there are plenty of country pubs and campsites in this area. Lower black dot is the Lady Bower Inn, top black dot is the Ye olde mustard pot in Midhopestones if people wanted to meet there? Blue arrow route is for the hardcore hill climbers, takes in Strines Moor :scyth:

Got to say this is an ace drive for anyone who has not been on it.
Used to do it regular when Had my G on road
Great on a nice day and ladybower pub do a nice hot beef sandwhich
Just watch out for the bikers

10th august? Have to check my diary. If the cars running ok by then, i'm sure i could persuade th eother half that we should go.

right - had a look and most campsites have a 'no single sex parties' and a 'quiet after 10.30pm' and 'we reserve the right to remove you from accomodation' clause. So wherever would need to be near a pub - then go back for sleeps.

My idea would be to book individually at a campsite - therefore not arousing

Been avioiding commiting myself to this event, but before I do, are we talking about having a meet & drive on the 9th, with a stop over for the show on the 10th? Reason is that I've got other commitments on the 10th but would like to meet up with everyone if possible to put faces to names etc.
Anyone else traveling up from South Wales area??

Sat 9th August - meet at lunch at the ladybower inn (on the first post!)- drive around the peak district - some really good driving roads.
Sat evening - Find somewhere to stay (camping or barn place) and have a meal/some beers but not get too rowdy!!!!
Sunday 10th - up early, drive to Tatton park (about an hour tops from the peaks towards chester and hopefully over the cat and fiddle road - supposed to be ace driving) and Man the Club G40 stand at VW north west (decent show - mostly aircooled) It costs about £6 to get in (which covers the stand etc too)
then sunday go home!

I've had a change of job, so I won't know if I've got that weekend free for a few weeks. If I can, I'll come.

Despite much dilema, I think I'm up for a full weekend, still unsure of whether my wife and son are with me?

Right I'm making this a family weekend for myself, so I'm looking for recommendations for accomadation for me, my wife and our son(nearly 2 yrs old). I don't think a bunk house will do and don't want to load up car with camping gear etc. Don't mind paying B&B/hotel price's so where is best in relation to the planned route and the Sunday run to Tatton. I'm asking because I'm not familiar with the area and hoping someone who is can offer some advise. Cheers Jason

yeah good call as above! i havent been checking this post, but i will be up for the rally thing, but as usual i have to work in the evening, then up for the stand, in honesty my G40 may be off the road at that time so, will have to play it by ear, either way tho i will be at the show!

We're staying(thats me, the missues and out little un) at the Lady Bower, which from my calculations is not to far from the campsite so can travel up to show with everyone in the morning.
Once again, if anyone else fancies the trip from the South Wales area it would be good to have a wing man or woman on route!!

Right having spokent to Pete yesterday he has booked us 3 plots on the campsite. Its about £30 for the 3 of them I believe and will have enough space for about 9 of us to camp. We could do with knowing who is defo wanting to camp so we can make sure we have enough plots, so please speak up if you are defo coming. I'm sure Pete will update when he gets back from his holidays next week.

I have booked here http://www.peakpub.co.uk/camping - three tent pitches. So with decent sized tents (yoof's got on) we should get a few people here. More shouldn't be a problem. Its £10.50 a pitch.
So again, plan is to meet at Ladybower pub. Drive round peaks for couple - 3 hours. Have a meal and some beers at the peakpub, then camp.
The stand has been booked for tatton so we should have a decent weekend. You have to pay show entrance and tatton entrance fees as normal by the way!

Just been discussing plans/logistics of next weekend with the missus who'll be joining me for the trip with our son, I know its not really been mentioned by anyone else, but is anyone else taking wife's/girlfiends(or both LOL )or other family memebers/friends?
Also not knowing where everyone else is from, is anyone traviling from a southernly(possibly westerly) direction, as the 4/5hour run up to the Peak district for us on the Sat morning is a bit daunting at the moment.

me and sam are about 1hr away in sheffield, hayesey in manchester, raw from west yorkshire, yoof is from cheshire. Others i don't know.
I'm not taking a gf - she hates my g40 and hates camping even more!

I'm still in, though no longer Staying at Ladybower Inn, staying nearer Buxton for 2 nights(making a full weekend of it tbh.
Anybody fancy PM'ing a few tel numbers as I won't be accessing PC after Friday morning, in case there are any changes in plans, as it would be good to find out as it happens rather than a several hours later when I'm sat in some car park in a far away land......... :(

yep just doing a web page with the routes and stuff on now... although I wont be putting our mobile numbers up on a publicly accessible page! They will be on the sheets given out on the day. I will also be asked for people taking part to PM us their numbers.

unfortunately im not gunna be able to make the rally, but will be at tatton, i have to do some work on car on saturday and sort my stuff for tatton, i just dont have enough time to do all!

this is my last post before hitting the road this afternoon, I've fix a rig on the back of the G40 to drag some of this nice weather from South Wales up with me....... LOL

I dont think any of us have a gazebo. Should be ok, once we've got the tents up we'll go straight to the pub! Will be a bit rubbish on Sunday if the weather is poo however.
I'm more or less all packed, everything charged up etc and the car is clean and in the garage. Dunno why I've bothered really if its going to get wet tomorrow!
