Title: Replacing steel braided hoses
Post by: Alex on June 04, 2009, 05:13:24 pm
I need to replace one of my stainless rear hoses because it's twisted in the middle.

How do you go about doing this without twisting the new one? Is it simple?

They self orientate as you fit them. You hold the union with a 14mm spanner and tighten up the union on the solid brake pipe.

Sounds alright, I'll do that myself next time I get workshop space then :)

Shit, just remembered, you need photos of my manifold!

Yes, please !

Be prepared to replace brake pipes though, quite often they don't come off without a fight. You will need a proper 11mm brake pipe spanner too.

I think the one on that side is fairly new - it's the side where the copper brake hose split. Long story.

On that basis, though, I may leave it to someone with a bit of mechanical ability. I don't fancy knackering a brake line.

wimp, a copper brake line is about £1 from a motor factors ( mine measured them and makes them up - or even ETKA tells you lengths!)

its an easy enough job with plus gas and a brake spanner.

Years of slightly cocking jobs up and ending up with a car I can't use, I can't be arsed any more, haha! :D
