Post by: Big Eric on July 13, 2019, 05:51:09 am
To Forum,
Has any Member got Electric Windows fitted to there G? They were never fitted by Vw not even as an option.
I believe they were sold as a kit for self installation. has any one any information on these Kits? Ie Circuit diagram.
Motors, Switches, Relays Wiring Loom, and who Made and Sold them. Any info would be helpful Thanks.

Have a look at this thread:

It is from a long time back but you may have some luck asking on Club Polo.
I had dealer fit (I think) electric windows on one of my G40s (along with green tint windows, central locking and a tracker). It was a long time back but if I remember correctly it had two switches mounted in a small panel next to the fag lighter. There was nothing fancy like single touch open/close or connection to the alarm; they just went up or down while you held the switch. So I'm guessing that the circuit was just direcly wired through the switch to the each motor or via a simple relay. I do remember one window getting stuck down in the pouring rain as the wiring had been done with those nasty Scotchlock connectors. There was nothing visible on the door cards themselves just a blanking plug over the original hole for the manual winder. I ripped out the central locking as that was unreliable. That was really simple just solenoids attached to the bottom of the door pins.
Regards,
Nick

Yeah my old one had the window switches by the fag lighter. I believe mine were dealer fitted also. Not got any pictures unfortunately.

Thanks for the info guys, Mine consist of 2 Bosch Motors, two Italian Ansor-Brevet 6 pin switches[ not very reliable] a no 15 vw Relay
and a enclosed black round plastic item which i presume is some sort of fuse. The power supply is taken off the ignition wire at the back of the ignition switch. The two switches fit next to the cig lighter into a push fit holder. I had a few problems with intermittent operation
which might be due to the Toad Alarm system, or the dodgy Ansor-Brevet switches. I do not know if you can still get hold of these
switches?
