Title: Front shock absorbers
Post by: AxA on January 29, 2018, 05:52:02 pm
Can someone let me know if front shock absorbers can be removed from the G40 strut and replaced. VW heritage have told me that they are inserted and part of the strut hence cannot be changed unless you change complete strut. Find this confusing as car currently has konis inserted so someone has changed them. I'm looking for new replacements as part of rebuild. Much apprreciated if anyone can also point me in the direction of best person / supplier to purchase new set of standard shocks.
Many thanks
Neil

dealer fit were oil filled shocks and came as a front leg unit.

aftermarket are inserts where you ditch the oil and put a gas or oil insert in...

so if you want true OEM - heritage are right....

aftermarket - well its down to preference.  I always liked stock springs with Konis set on soft.  It was harder than the OEM stuff, but still quite compliant.
