Title: Standalone Charger oil supply setup
Post by: Fifress on June 09, 2017, 05:53:48 pm
Hey,
I know there was a how to thread here regarding this topic wich used a bosch fuel pump.
a couple questions to this:
- What engine oil grade, I assume something in the lines of 5W30, and how much?
- What oil pressure do you set it up to?
Thank you  8)

you want the thinnest oil you can get, I used to use compressor oil in mine.  If you are using a fuel pump then it's not designed to move anything thicker than petrol.

As for pressure all I can say is "some".  I had a mechanical gauge connected to mine so I could check the pressure didn't drop to zero.  I recall it only ran at a couple of PSI most of the time, you want the gauge connected to the oil in line, the out line will be little to no pressure.

I ran a facet fuel pump that was 5/7psi.

I also ran an mocal oil pump with engine oil but it was still a little too thick. Ideally i believe that pump needs to be turned on once oil temp has reached a certain temp.

With the oil, i ran motocross fork oil. Expensive but it did the job really well. I researched into in and found out that it was ideal for what i needed.
