Title: Floor Mounted Brake pedal box
Post by: Ian Johnson on March 09, 2017, 05:16:53 pm
What have been used for floor mounted Brake pedal box.......my car is purely motorsport use?..........Preferences on Manufacturers etc.

Any problems encountered with fitting etc?
Have you retained the Cable clutch?
Have you needed to move the seat location back?

I used a Tilton 600 series, looked at other makes (OBP, Compbrake both lower end, Wilwwod mid range, and Tilton/AP towards the top)

Figured brakes not worth scrimping on...

I've gone hydraulic clutch, conversion kits to 085 boxes are fairly straightforward just actuating the stock arm, or adapt a tilton clutch release bearing to fit.

Seat is almost as far back as it will go, I'm 5ft 10"

I went for the latest Ali OBP Race V2 floor mounted pedal box. It has forward facing master cylinders along with cable clutch and accelerator which i wanted to keep.
Fitting was a lot more involved than I expected as I needed to cut the floor along with the chassis legs so I could get the pedal box to sit low enough. Strengthening plates welded in and better than before.

The only time someone wanted to cut holes in their battery tray, lol.

Looks good. Does it feel different? I've never been happy with pedals pivoting on the floor, always reminds me of a beetle/Porsche which spoils it for me 😕

Yes very different, it's a race car so works for what it's designed......not sure I'd want one on a daily lol
