Title: play in steeringwheel - steering column
Post by: Jacque on May 10, 2016, 11:04:24 am
Hi,

I got a fair bit of play in my new G's steering wheel. (all directions: left, right, under, up)

Removed the plastic under the steeringwheel to check out what is causing it and it looks like its the part where u insert your ignitionkey. the steering column? nr 14 on etka? http://etka.cc/vw/part_single/catalog/vw/markt/RDW/modell/PO/year/1991/drive_standart/120/hg_ug/419/subcategory/34000/part_id/3690722/lang/e)

i don't think its a loose bolt or something like that...

anyone have expierienced similar problems? how did you fix it? because it looks like the part is obsolete since 2012 and can't seem to find anyone offering new ones?

greets

You can remove / replace the barrel, there is a location you have to drill out with a 6mm drill - the details are in the haynes manual
