Title: Worn - Nylon ARB Blocks -30k - Why?
Post by: JoeH on February 10, 2016, 09:04:48 pm
As per title really.
I've got a reasonably common set up.
Stage 2 ppp frame
TCA inner rose joint
TCA outer green nylon bush
Nylon ARB mount white ones
Regular top mounts.

I've done 30k on all that, and my local garage (who are thorough), noticed that the white Nylon arb blocks (i bought from ppp) had play in them, consequently the mechanic placed some rubber shims/bushing to pack it out, note bolts were tight.
Result handling transformed - much flatter in the bends.

Note I drive on normal roads, no track days, and barely 120bhp on my G40!

So has anyone else worn their ARB blocks out?
Mechanic said its just normal wear.

I'm more used to top mounts giving up...which mine a haven't

Appreciate you Stage 3 frame runners are feeling glee at this post.

I noticed some wear on the nylon rear beam bushes.

Have done at least 10k on them, mostly back roads though.

Have just rotated them 90deg and seems ok for now but will be replaced soon enough.

Did you put any lubricant on the ARB blocks?

I've had power flex bushes that came with a little packet of grease.

Yes I've replaced several sets over the years. Cup car aluminium blocks used nylon spacers as a sacrificial components so you didn't have to replace the whole assembly.

I would say that's abnormal, just check the ARB sits square in the blocks and the clamps are tight.
