Title: Boot lid window removal.
Post by: AdzCM on October 24, 2015, 03:13:19 pm
How would you go about removing the boot lid window? Lots of rust at the bottom of the window. So I taking it out to sort it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

it's bonded in so a bit of a bugger.  Might be worth ringing some local mobile windscreen fitting people and see how much they'd want to do it.

I tried it with a hack saw blade once, it wasn't happening!  The glue stuff just stuck back together behind the blade.

I used a thin piece of wire wrapped around two wooden handles. Bit of a nightmare of a job, but the bootlid was scrap (I just wanted the glass).

other way round for me (I wanted the metal but not the glass) so I got fed up and put a brick through it.

Lmao at the brick idea. Would have done the same.

I ended up using a steak knife and heated it a bit with a blowtorch (not too much) which worked well.

It must have been out before because I was cutting through tigerseal. Don't know what is meant to be there standard.
