Title: Vw Polo Mk2 G40
Post by: Scotti_P on December 13, 2013, 12:51:15 pm
Hey guys,

Unfortunately I'm having to put my Polo up for sale.

I have owned it for the last 10months and its been a pleasure to own! Lovely looking car, drives very well and is appreciated everywhere it goes!
Very tidy for its age, with only a few marks from over the years as you would come to expect!
Started life in Newton Abbott, bought by an old boy from Renwick's VW in Newton Abbot in 1989, it was their demonstrator, & he had it ever since a few years ago! He has recently retired from driving.

It's a proper timewarp car! Garaged all it's life - the window rubbers are as good as the day it left the factory.
You don't find many like this anymore. (With a bit of attention, this could be a show stopper! As much as I hate to use that expression!)

It started life as a 1988 1.0 polo coupe in silver and I picked it up with 37800 miles on the clock! Brand new!

Book pack is present, as are both keys & Original bill of sale. Service book has 3 stamps, the rest of the servicing having been done by a local specialist. There are a few old bills & plenty of old MOT's, but sadly in true 'oldie' fashion he hasn't kept a fully documented service history - he just did stuff in his words 'as & when it needed it'... We let him off though, as he's a cute old boy.

The interior is like new, the only wear being a bit of softness in the driver seat upper bolster foam - hardly a big problem. And the drivers seat doesn't tilt as the cable had snapped somewhere along the line when I picked it up. Hasn't bothered me but I'm sure its not a big job.

Take a minute to have a quick look through the original photos of the car, they are stunning!
There has only been a few minor changes since then, One obvious one being the engine transplant. I was told that the engine came out of a later 1992 Polo, and had approximately 120k on it
As soon as I got it, I had the Supercharger off and sent to Matt at OCD. It was rebuilt to Jabba Stage 4, which I was told is the best you can get! I did also have a chip to go with that but it sent the ECU funny so replaced it with the standard one!

Does require a slight service, just a little going over as hasn't been run properly in a little while.
Has have a new Manifold on plus a De-cat pipe and standard Back-box. Not the greatest system though. Manifold was fouling on the Charger bracket and the charger itself so was neatly made to fit! Wouldn't even notice if I'm honest!
Also Manifold didn't have a Lambda sensor fitted so will need that sorting to.
Brakes are fine for me, but may be ideally changed by someone else..
Wheels are fine, could do with a Winter refurb to tidy them up (NOT my parking) and tyres are OK.

All in all, A very smart little car, lovely to drive and attractive to look at! Will make someone very happy after the points I have been honest about!

I do have BRAND NEW, still in their box front Coilovers which cost me £350 from here, and I also have a Extremely rare Mk2 G40 Polo FMIC set up with all pipework which I also put from here!
These will be thrown in for FREE! (Unless someone wanted these items individually?!)

Gutted to sale, but needs must unfortunately!

Running issue is that the Lambda sensor isn't plugged in. Will need a new one as of taken off when old exhaust went.
For this reason and that I have seen something else, I am reducing the price to £1900 collected.
(Car will run and drive, just running badly. I would suggest it to be trailered away.)

Was asked about breaking this for parts.. What do you think?!
The only problem is I don't have the time or space to be doing that unfortunately!

If that was the case, then it would have to be come and take it off yourself!
Its only on springs are now, but have a brand new front set of coilovers in the garage, plus a very rare Mk2 OEM FMIC too, which are both for sale too!

You'll have to take care with this idea mate as people may just break things to get the bit they want off just thinking about it

Hello, I might be interested in a punt on this as a summer project. How badly is she running? Because on my previous G, disconnecting the Lambda didn't cause too many issues, just over fueling - So I would suspect the issue is something else?

Its just running fairly rough and does feel as though its as quick as it should be..
I've been told that it is just the sensor though..
