Title: How to identify PY block?
Post by: dan1300r on June 07, 2013, 09:30:28 AM
Anyone know how to identify a PY Block? I am buying a used PY block to do up - want to make sure it's a PY and no other! Thanks in advance..

the engine code is faintly stamped into the side of the block right above where the top of the gearbox is and below where the dizzy would be.  You'll probably need to give the area a good clean to be able to see it.  It'll start with PY and then some numbers which are the unique serial number of the engine.

External webbing is different, oil drain for the charger will be tapped, and if it's always had a G40 charger mount, the top left corner will be clean.

Oh and the part number.
