Title: Bottom End Wanted - even a dead one may do
Post by: dan1300r on May 29, 2013, 10:14:14 PM
Wanted - bottom end. Will consider ones with melted pistons / scored bores as I fancy doing one up for the shelf - provided not a dead 1341 though as I can't bore one of these out further for obvious reasons! I have a set of forged 77mm pistons here so a 1272 one with dead bores or pistons or both will do as I will be drilling out to 1341 anyway. All I ask is for the crank to be good. Has anyone used a standard 1272 bottom end? - I know the rods will be different but that doesn't matter either as I have a set of forged rods aswell, just need to know if the block is the same deck height (for compression reasons) and I shall probably buy one of these as still cheap and plentiful.. A 1272 with dead bores from g40 would be favourable but must be cheaper if dead - a good one at right money may be considerable.. What's out there? Thank you all.

The block is slightly different as is crank .... Different part numbers. Its the rods that are the same

Where are you located? If you are willing to stick on a pallet or close enough this will help me to decide. Thanks

In this case it would be nice to know if anyone has turbo'd the standard lump and if the crank can take it? Thanks

15psi from a K03 on an AAV has been done. Seems to be okay so far.

I'm at 20.3 psi with mine on a K04-015 already and I was wanting to go further so unless anyone has done this I'll stick with the PY. I've maxed my injectors out at this stage so can't go any further on the boost and judging by the oil getting into my catch tank my current bottom is fair letting by and hasn't got long left hence wanting to make on for the shelf. Leakage is 5% 1,2,4 and 3 is at 15% so it must have a broken ring or worse, never had any luck with honing and I'm already at 77mm  :-\ Thanks for the info  :)

I can get my hands on a full MH engine for peanuts, maybe I should take the risk and let people know if it will work post 20psi, however I will cry if the crank twists up  :D

A full 1W? I've briefly read about these, what do I need to do to get this to work? Wont my G40 forged rods be too short on the stroke or do you keep the full 1W rods/crank/block and use G40 pistons? Will my forged 77mm pistons work and how much do you want? I need to drill my head too don't I? What bolts do I use? Thanks
