Title: car sounds like a scooby on fire up!
Post by: vwmk3jon on February 15, 2013, 06:54:14 PM
fire the car up in the morning and its deffo running on 3 cylinders! sounds like a boxer engine! lol. have to sit with my foot on accelerator bout 2000rpm for 2mins or so before the missfire cures itself and it runs fine.

is this an air leak issue or timing?

Sounds more like an ignition problem; oil fouled plug cleaning up after a while. Pull the plugs after an overnight break and have a look see.

had the plugs out. seems theyre all sooty so some overfuellings going on? gave them a wipe down and put them back in again. gave the idle a tweak too whilst i was there and although i need to tweak it alittle lower (1200rpm) it seems better.

could it all have something to do with the oil pressure issues im having? wheres the pressure switch? back of the head?
