Hi I've been meaning to start a thread for a while but haven't had time. I bought my g40 about 6 months ago just as a run around
(http://i1042.photobucket.com/albums/b426/p1rik/image_zpsee65fd06.jpg)
After having the car on the road a couple of weeks mot was due.
So I decided this was the time to take it off the road and sort out a few rust issues that need
a bit of attention.

An yeah having the correct tools makes life a lot easier
Cheers
I got the sill panels from a place called carz2
You will have to get the polo breadvan sill panels thought because they dont make them for the mk3 coupe anymore but the breadvan sills are exactly the same from year 81-90
http://www.carz2.co.uk/volkswagen-polo-8190-c-540_557.html
Both sills on. Found a few more bit that needed some attention along the way but im happy with progress so far.

This week I have been trying to track down some new rear arch panels to repair my old rotten ones but unfortunatly I've had no lucky with this. so I have gone about making my own using universal repair sections.

Rollcage is all welded in and looks great wasn't to sure weather to go for a cross or a diagonal on the door bars so I have just gone on diagonal for now maybe add an extra bar later on.
Big thanks to Huxley Motorsport

Wow this car has gone into good hands it wasnt well looked after before but your makin an awesome job loving it!
Thanks yea it's had a lot of work done on it in the past from what I can see do you no who used to own it
WOW i LOVE that handbrake!!!!
is it a pic to connect it all up?
Ye i know who used to own it cos i lent hom them teardrops lol looks awesome though
I've got one of those handbrake ratchets in the garage but it doesn't have the base - did you make yours or should it come with it?
Ha ha thanks
The handbrake connects straight onto the original cable only thing I hate to do was use the old role pin because the one that comes with it is to small for the cable to fit thought.
The base comes with it they make a few different ones mine is made for a flat foor what make have you got
primer on after a long day rubbing and some saw fingers
(http://i1042.photobucket.com/albums/b426/p1rik/image_zpsa9df77c7.jpg)
Nice work, I like where this is going
the welding on the cage is outstanding.
New peddle box to help with the poor brakes that the g40's suffers with.

I've got exactly the same TRIGGER ratchet as yours, but no base for it. If you want it as a spare you can have it FOC at the Polo Show or some other event, it's not much use to me.
That Would be great thanks is there any shows on Soon that you are going to Be at

+1!
£350 is good! A mate of mine paid twice that for some german made one
Nice pedal setup- how are you planning on setting up the master cylinder / bias (presume from the balance bar you've got 2 cylinders?)
Liking this 8)
Thanks
Yea I have got two master cylinders behind the peddle box and the reservoirs will go under the bonnet linking them to the cylinders with braided hose
Sorry, I was thinking more about what size cylinders (not sure what your pedal ratio is?) and how are you plumbing them, presume 1 to front 1 to rear, but some people prefer a bias valve to a balance bar (although you can adjust both on the move)
Good work ;D

Hi dude, using alot of this project as reference for my own when I take it off the road for an overhaul. Any chance you could take some more photos of the pedal box? From behind etc if you get a minute? Would very much appreciate it
Looking at obp universal pedal boxes like yours, but looking at ones with flat pedals and arms opposed to curved like yours, and shorter pedals, me being lanky, I need to mount it further back, think this would be possible? Thanks very much mate
also any more updates as I'm enjoying this thread :)
Hi the car is in the bodyshop at the mo but I will put some more pictures up when it's back . I was going to get a flat floor peddle box but went with the other kind after no reason for it either are good
Thanks you
I've searched for this pedal box all over the interwebz but never found it, defo worth a pop though taylor.
