Title: Big end bolt
Post by: Etches on December 23, 2012, 07:40:50 PM
Anyone got any tips for getting this undone? I've tried using a bell housing bolt and locking the flywheel but its rediculously tight!

Windy gun. Think the bolt has that blue thread lock on or is a stretch bolt from factory.

i chucked a block of wood in between the crank to lock it and it came undone without much fuss. i think locking the flywheel doesnt give enough "lock" and the leverage just over comes it when you try to undo the bolt.
my way does however require you dismantling the sump etc etc.

old clutch cover mounted backwards so it jams on something (i.e.so fly/clutch cover looks like a figure 8 eight)

i use a pipe wrench in crank pulley, it's the only way i can unbolt the bastard without slipping.

block of wood on the crank here too.  But you need to have removed the sump
