I just bought a ERL 1S brand new for a bargain and was wondering what size nozzle is the best to use?
Also where is the best location? I know there are several but i thought maybe in the back of the throttle body or top on the inlet manifold.
If I remember rightly one of hayeseys build threads partially covers nozzle location. If I remember right its a build thread with winter in the title, helpful ay? Haha.
The nozzle if i remember reading on his was next to the intercooler elbow (chemical metal'd in as the plastic wasent thick enough to tap into) and an additional one up near the air flow sensor.
Edit: well, hayesey did indeed have a thread with the word winter in the title, however I can't find anything about water injection! Must of been something I spotted on a build thread reading sesh and that's the build thread I remember the most. Not sure where I saw it now, karlos the jackyl maybe? Maybe I'm just pulling names out of the hat now.....
Ive read the thread mate, i seem to remember it saying after the intercooler but before the throttle body so 1 it doesnt corrode the intercooler and 2 so that its fully mixed in the flowstream before entering the throttle body.
I did have a look as well but cant find it.
I did think of direct port injection.
My intercooler is ally so might be ok to put one there, i run the boost mod and was wondering if its ok to put them before the tb as when i take my foot off i would get the spray in the engine bay?
I have two- one right in the compressor outlet, one post TB.
Would it be ok to have one after the i/c with the boost mod done?
What injector size you got yoof? I got a race pump so a bit more powerful then the normal i think, if i run a 0.5 injector it puts out 250cc i think.
mines pre TB, tapped into a metal boost pipe joiner. not sure on nozzle size tho as i have no idea how to measure it and theres no markings on it!
You run g-lader jon?
Nozzle size is (if ERL) colour bands around them. Depends what pump you run to what size nozzle you should use.
I run 2 - 0.3mm nozzles, one post compressor and one pre throttle
Is this in preparation for the G60 Jez?
Richard from ERL said "You need to install a 15psi checkvalve in your setup if the jet is installed post throttle"
I dont think i will be, im looking for a 2 nozzle setup one after intercooler and one 12" before throttle body.
Nah andy the G60 aint happening. Im happy with the power and just want to run a little bit safer with the aquamist.
Would like to get it mapped next year though. The kit i got comes with .5 .6 and .7 nozzles, too big?
yes if you are going to run two nozzles, probably ok if just one. I have 2 3mm ones too although my ERL pump seized up due to using tap water in it :)
Thought they might be, really? Tap water not a good idea then? I can get de-mineralised water from work easily if thats better?
This is the calculation someone used for a single 0.9 nozzle and 2x 0.7 nozzles.
Ignoring the pi
0.9^2=0.81
0.7^2+0.7^2=0.98
So if i run 2x 0.3 that would be 0.18 and a single 0.5 would be 0.25.
Running 2x 0.4 would be 0.32 and a single .06 would be 0.36.
If i was to run a single i would go for the .05 as thats the closest match.
Its recommended that 12 inches is also the best place to put a nozzle, with the 1S they do say that you dont need to place the jets apart as injecting is almost continuos.
Main advantage of 2 jets is incase 1 gets blocked so it seems like 2 jets is a better choice but what size.
Whats pumps do you have and what pressure do they run at?
