Title: Help please! Gear selection
Post by: ValG40 on November 17, 2012, 05:54:06 PM
When out driving today the gearbox engine mount nut decided to do a runner  :-\ :(
making the rear of the engine drop and pulling on the gear linkage
eventually i finally found another and ive put it on (which was a massive ball ache)
however now it seems like my entire gear selection sequence has moved over one to the left resulting in me not being able to select reverse instead it just goes into first  ???
also, after trying to get into reverse i looked under the car and found a small spline kind of tube thing had fallen from the gear selection linkage i imagine this has something to do with it

how do i go about realigning it all?

no idea what that is...

but there's a pinch bolt - 2x13mm spanners should do it. manually put it in reverse and get someone to hold the rod there inside the car!

That looks like the washer that sits over the selector rod inside the rubber ball for the selector. If that makes sense. I don't know what you call it!

Yeah weeman is right, i had this fall out once and i had similar problems in finding gears. Popped it back in with some loctite to stop it coming loose and i have never had problem again.

Without that rubber piece you wont be able to set the gears up.
