has your toothy belt got all its teeth... they can make a racket when its loosing them... (not usually this bad - but its first/easiest place to start)
Pete
Defiantly your belt mate. Mine has sounded like that a few times before.
cheers fellas
first thought was belts, the teeth look alright, i will inspect better in the morning, however the charger belt was sitting slight left on the pully and the front smaller, lower pullys looked abit worn, will get some pictures up soon
You will find you have 1 or 2 places where 5 or so teeth missing from like 1 inch of the belt but you cant see them unless you turn the crank with a spanner/socket.
Yeahh theres afew teeth missing, my question now is, where i can buy a replacement and any tips on fitting?
cheers
lex
The club sell the belts. Details in here http://www.polog40.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,706.0.html (http://www.polog40.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,706.0.html)
There is a guide for taking off and fitting the charger somewhere. Will tell you how to tension it in that.
Just a matter of slackening off the charger slightly, extracting the old belt and re-fitting the new. Check for play in the pulleys while the belt's off. One of the benefits of the toothed belt is it lowers the strain on the charger pulleys, so belt tensioning's just like cambelt tensioning, nothing too aggressive.
