Title: Overfuelling?
Post by: ValG40 on October 29, 2012, 06:59:03 PM
Maybe a schoolboy error but I can smell unburnt fuel from the exhaust and in the last week I've put £40 in petrol only to get back just over 220 miles, I've looked at the plugs and they don't seem bad, not sooty

Is this how G's tend to run?
My other cars a 1.3 spi so I'm not used to this lol

£40 at £1.349 a liture is 6.525  gallon

220/6.525=33.7 mpg - which is about right

Always was a bit pongy, but no fuel leaks and always breezed the MOT emissions test every year. Also to note, the fuel tank breather vents to atmosphere now like a Mk.1/2 Polo instead of going to the charcoal canister at the front of the car.

Fuel consumption sounds fine, same as it always was. I tended to get around 60 miles to a tenner but I drove it like a nun half the time  :D

Hope it's still treating you well  ;)

Aup thanks for clearing that up  :)
Yes it's treating me very well, going to get the clutch sorted when this rain backs off abit

I'm still abit of a novice when it comes to g40's :P and I'd hate for something to go ignored so better safe than sorry
