Im putting the g40 away in 1-2 weeks time till march/april next year and was wondering if any has any tips and pointers of what to do in terms of storage? I remember reading about damp and mould and want to avoid this.
I know about battery disconnecting and tyres moving back and forward everynow and then.
Planning to let it run every week for 15 mins as well.
Places like wilkos sell cheap dehumidifiers. Little tubs with silica salt in, put a few of them in the car an that should keep any damp/mould out the inside. That or put some salt in a plastic tub. One on the dash one on the parcel shelf an one on the rear seat. Seems to work well when I've done it.
would rice work the same or does salt have more absorbing capabilities
I'd over inflate the tyres slightly, and if it's difficult to roll backwards and forwards consider leaving it up on stands. Certainly don't put the handbrake on!
Only run the engine up if you're able to leave it for long enough to let it get hot and let the fans cut in.
to be honest, I'd not bother running the engine. Get a battery conditioner and leave that connected. Put it on axle stands to keep the weight off the tyres (although for just storing for a few months, this isn't too important).
I'll second the salt in a tub.
Always worked for me, just check it every now and then.
If it gets damp replace it or leave it in the sun for a bit.
The annual question lol. As Haysey suggests, get the weight off the tyres and suspension. As Andy suggests, handbrake off. As Weeman suggests, Silica Gel or similar from Halfrauds etc. These work VERY well and cost jack shit. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU WANT TO INTRODUCE YOU G TO SALT; probably why you're taking it off the road in the first place. Run the engine for a few minutes every couple of weeks as per your own notion or shut it down completely with a dose of fogging oil. The battery there's a couple of differant notions on, but I personally disconnect mine and keep it somewhere it won't get killed by frost.
if its got a lader, i'd personally put a few squirts of 10w40 semi synth down the charger and run if for a while... moisture kills scrolls!
I recommissioned my white car after two and a half years and didnt run it. Also when I put it away a few years ago for six months I never ran it either. Can do more harm than good from what I've heard. I have some crap steelies I put it on over winter now.
Only any point in running it if you can get it hot. And even then everything'll get condensation all over it as it cools. Whenever I've laid my car up I've tended to just leave the motor alone.
out of interest how long does it take for tyres to go egg shaped or be damaged from being sat still on a car ??

Them silica balls i can get from work as we got bags the size of crisp packets full of them in bags that are made for the job (like the ones you get in shoe boxes but massive)
Might leave the engine then and not run it, i could run it up to temp every time i do it but then if i dont do that i will prob take the charger off and leave it wrapped up in my closet.
Axle stands and handbrake will be a deffo for me as well.

Fogging oil is used for prolonged engine layups, Outboard Motors being a popular application.
It's readily accessible off e-bay. Stick an old set of plugs in the engine and run it up to temp. then spray the oil down the inlet till the engine chokes on it. You can also spray over the outside of the engine to keep corrosion at bay(no pun intended). When it's time to come out of hibernation, pull the old plugs, spin till cylinders clear, fit new plugs and fire up. They trust big bucks outboards with this stuff, your charger will be just fine
