Post by: G40-lex on July 31, 2012, 11:05:24 PM
Hello all

Had a g40 and sold it a year ago, ended up driving a mk1 tt for abit before someone writing it off 2 weeks after purchasing, saw my old G up for sale so went for it again and its good to be back.

I need better brakes, whats the best conversion for these?

Here she is

What wheel size? Don't think you can improve them under 13's, 14's I believe the TSR kit is good (£300 ish), and Wilwood 4pots (£450 ish) seem to be popular for 15"
There's also the G60/ 16v option of  256mm. (£???)

Upgrading the master cylinder to a 22.2mm version is a good move too. If you go to a parts place then ask for one for a Corrado NON-ABS model (I think I usually quote a 1994 VR6 or something). They fit tons of old Dubs so are easy to geta nd cost around £40. Someone is selling on in the classifieds at the mo.

Brake fluid renewal and braided hoses (£40 odd new) will help things too.

Not sure on disks, can't say I've noticed a difference myself but Ferodo DS2500 (something similar named if not that) seem to  be a popular choice for pads from what I've read.
