For all the wrong reasons, I'm putting my G up for sale. I can't get the pics up here, but they're on Pistonheads. Spec. as follows, all in last 5k :-
New OEM front wings.
New OEM heated rear screen.
New pattern rear view mirrors.
New OEM rear badge.
Used but VGC arch trims.
New de-badged grille.
Full glass out re-spray( Very high standard).
PPS subframe.
TSR 270mm brake kit.
AVO springs over Cobra gas shocks(almost standard ride height).
New TCA's.
New steering arms.
New track rod ends.
New OEM rad.
Jabba stage 4 charger.
PSD toothed belt kit.
Stand alone charger lube system.
Re-furbed head, with new springs, guides and seals.
Bar-tek lightweight cam followers.
Newman fast road cam (more mid-range grunt).
Plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm etc.
Clutch was done at 100k, car now on 130k(purchased at 125k)
New rear axle and rear brakes at some point in history ??? but wheel alignments all ok.
Interior is pretty sound, no tears etc. Just the shabby chic of a twenty year old car.
NO ICE ;ariel lead fubar somewhere under roof lining.
Basically the car is solid, pretty quick and quite a head turner. There is a little bit of rot at the rear of the off-side sill which I would have attended to when the last of the to-do list was attended to; the petrol tank.
you forgot price and location mate
They're in the Pistonheads ad. Pete, but yes, they should be on here as a matter of course.
Location is Inverness (I went to Brum to buy my G) and price is £3,250 OVNO. Not really going to stray too far from that sum; car is a good'un. Just went through MOT today, no advisories.
Forgot to mention wheels in spec. They are BBS RZ's i think, 6x14's with toyo rubber which is good/excellent on front and fair/good on rears.
Lovely G40, good luck on the sale.
Cracking little polo!
It's a shame these go for so little money when you get a whole lotta car!
Also, how did u find your tsr kit? Looking to buy one now
Google Tim Styles Racing , as usual the G40 will be well down their stock lists now but they should still be able to help.
As for the price, the G will never be a "collectors" car but it is an "enthusiasts" car that offers a unique driving experience. Mine isn't eating anything as the saying goes and I'm not desperate to sell, so I'll hold out for what I feel is a very reasonable price.
Nice car, hold out for the money...
Where is the pistonheads link? :)
If you can't be arsed looking in Pistonheads without a direct link then this car's not for you buddy.
I've looked, can't find anything :F Unless I'm being completely silly.
Same for all G40's mate; they're buried in the ordinary polos. Select Volkswagen, select Polos, select filter, select distance you're prepared to travel (ie everywhere) add G40 to search in titles and hit search. Result.
Ahhhh! Nice one :P

In my experience it's always best to make things as easy as poss for a buyer when selling a car.

Only a couple of the usual arsewipes turned up to view so far( in Fiesta with broken rear spring no less). Friend with lovely 205GTI for sale isn't seeing any action either. Obviously money's pretty tight all over just now. That being the case, I'll have the G up for sale till the end of September and then, when the tax is out, I'll make a start on the interior. Better suspension's in the plans as well. As you can see, I'm not too commited to parting with the G.
John, Was it me who sold you this car, am seriously tempted to take it back off you.
Hiya Smithy, yes indeed it's your old G, still smokin (not literally of course). How's the surfing scene? Got rid of that itch or just needing to get to the beaches quicker in a G?
Glad to hear its still going well :) still surfing am travelling down in a caddy at the mo...I miss the G40 buzz thats for sure.
Shame your getting rid matey, you'll miss it like me I'm sure. Hope alls well up North.
Wouldn't mind holding on to the G, but the Good Wife finds it too scarey so I'll have to find summat else, maybe off-road.
Almost no response so now off the market. B12 suspension kit and spruced up interior on the cards now.
