My gasket has pretty much had it, and its proved pretty hard to get a new one, is there a direct replacment? before i start the buy & try process?
It doesn't list the Polo but I can't imagine that it would be different from a Golf of the same year.

Mine's from a B5 Passat - I had to widen the roof hole slightly, but the one that was on there before wasn't an OEM job so I don't know if you'd have to do that with the original. Mine was a GT so didn't have one from the factory.
Yes I have the same prob with the gasket on mine. Half of it has broken away. If someone could recommend a genuine VW replacement as I am really fussy when it comes to my 40.
When you peel the roof lining back does it normally stick back to how it was originally?
Dunx
if its just the gasket i'd recommend an ebay one... which are like a rubber ring (in the shape of a gasket) with some hot water you can stretch over teh top...
SOOOO much easier than taking the head lining down!

Genuine rubber grommet - 1H0 051 753, about £15.
I ordered a gasket of eBay, just search Vw ariel gasket, and you'll find it, it came today and it good enough!
Unfortunately my roof lining is already down! Well the rear bar anyway, In the process of painting the shell so the ariel had to come out!
