Post by: norfolkvw on April 24, 2012, 11:34:40 AM
hi,   ive searched through previous post but just thought id ask,  1st and second gears are crunchy some times and reverse allways is, the gears seem hard to get into, i went to gsf to get a gear stick repair kit, didnt have one so i went to vw and they had it one in stock! my cars got a 8pc box and paddle clutch, my mates going to check it over thursday with me,
any ideas where to begin?

adjust the clutch?..

if your clutch has not fully disengaged then there is slight drag and can cause this crunch..

but on saying that if you have a paddle then it would on or off..

maybe worth the try tho. (tightening the bolt disengage the clutch more)

il have a look tomorrow, got to pick up a new clutch cable tomorrow from gsf so should eliminate that.
dont suppose you would no if a manual boost control valve would work on a polo do you?
one like this

sometimes putting it into 1st helps stop the crunch in reverse. Just so you dont keep doing it till its sorted.

Only if you have a turbo conversion, it won't work with the supercharger.
