Hi all,
Could someone tell me what the original colour was for the front brake calipers and the rear drums? My impression was gold front and black back. I've just bought all new brakes etc and wanted to re-do the calipers.
Also - anyone else done there and where did they get the paint?
Ta!

as far as i know drums were unpainted and fronts were zinc coated gold
I think that drums have black colour... Mine at least has....
How do you get stuff zinc coated?
you'd need to send them off to a metal finishers type place and pay them to do it. Personally I'd just wire brush them and paint them black with some decent high temp paint. I did the ones on my old GT breadvan ex-daily driver with good old POR15 and they lasted well.
I've gone for silver calipers and black drums on mine. Unimaginative, but I quite like seeing calipers, and red wasn't going to be subtle enough.
front callipers were zinc coated yeah but the rear drums were primed grey no more im pretty sure of that.
new drums just come bare metal, no paint at all.
true..im pretty positive nicks low miler which he sold i think? had primered rear drums?....NICK?!
1st G drums untouched on purchase were black. 2nd G lots of miles but new rear axle, brakes etc and once again drums black. Scrub up drums, SPEREX in black, pop in pre-heated oven at 250*c ( gas reg. 9) for half an hour. Excellent result. Wife's baking may taste odd for a bit.
hahaha my mum would kill me if I put any car part in the oven!!!
I might just buy new front calipers and I'll take your advice about rear drums.
Thanks all :)
