hi all.i know this has been covered many times before and people say use the mk4 metal headgasket, but iv just took the head off my gee van and the steel headgasket that was on had blown between cylinders 2&3 and the head looks like its been skimmed quite abit.iv heard the metal ones are thinner the original ones so i realy dont want to put another metal one back on because of the CR.
My question is,Is there anywhere i can get a original one from??(as iv been told vw dont do them anymore) is there anywhere i can get metal one from that's more to the original thickness
cheers
original ones can be bought from vw heritage - about £40 tho
Last time i bought a G40 head gasket from VW it was a Victor Reinz gasket. They told me last time i tried to buy one, that it was obsolete.
The same gasket comes from elring. Available from Nick at RS engine supplies as a head sealing kit or a loose gasket. Think it was circa 25 quid plus vat for a gasket, but cannay be sure without digging through invoices.
Give him a bell on 01233 661458, top service.
