Anyone else have this issue? Just pulled the engine out and had to break the inner CV joint apart to separate the gearbox from the driveshaft. It took a lot of heat and even more hammer to separate the remains of the CV from the output flange.
Looks like it'd got a bit warm:

hmm not had the issue myself but I seem to recall yoof having the same problem.
Yeah, Yoof deffo has had the issue.
Are you using GSF CVs on yours Hayes?
That heat affected pattern looks too regular. Could it be from hardening during manufacture?
i had the same issue- part bought from GSF- heat patterns were they from new- its the grinding operation heat i think.
i ruined the CV getting it off as i just smashed it off.
i thought it was because i forgot to pit the lil paper gasket in and it went to far- actually made no difference, incorrect dimension i think. il measure it later and find out how much of an interference fit it was.
additional note- only happened on my O/S drive, N/S was fine and they were bought together

no, old but genuine ones.
The plot thickens! So is this yet another service item we need to avoid GSF for?!
Mine is/was a GKN item, which is why I was relaxed about using it given that they're the CV and driveshaft daddies for the OEMs. However, I'm wondering whether GSF are selling the incorrect part?
When I get a minute I'll see if I can get some verniers on a genuine CV and compare.
ive still got the box my CVs came in! i could tell you the GKN part number!
the CV joint itself itsnt an issue and has done alright - its just the actual fit into the drive flange isnt it.
And il add a bit more plot to thicken this up, my initial though as to why this went tits up was the driveshaft length issue on early/late
did they also have different sizes on the flange???
Looks like the GKN CV that GSF supplied is very slightly oversized. Should be an easy fix with a bit of emery for when it goes back together.
