Hello all,
The sad day has come where I am forced to sell my beloved G40. It needs an MOT, it's gained a small hole on the rear arch near the filler neck, I can't weld and the garage want to charge me lots of labour to remove the fuel tank and weld it so it has to find a new home.
The car is in Norfolk, near Kings Lynn. I've put it on eBay for a start price of 99p as it must go, I haven't got anywhere to store it off the road.
This should be the link to the full listing,

Listing number 280831356204
feel free to have a look, ask any questions about the car etc. I hope one of you is going to be the lucky owner of my car as i'd really love it to go to someone who will take care of it.
Amanda
P.S. Please let me know if the link doesn't work!
You don't happen to have more photos? engine bay, interior, bad spots? :-\
Hello,
I just recieved this message and ended my eBay listing, I will be selling the parts through a combination of eBay, club polo and club G40.
Hi Amanda
I'm glad I wasn't the one to tell you that for the first time. Not looking to start an arguement, just to make sure you know the background that puts the vehicle in shakey territory (I used to build kit cars so I've got a fair bit of knowledge on this sort of thing, and I did a lot of reading the first time it was sold).
The main tricky bit is from what I know of this car, Tom did a good job of what he did and did it in good faith, but what he actually did isn't strictly legal. I don't know which VIN it's currently wearing on the slam panel, but mk2 polos have the VIN number on the bulkhead as well as the slam. As I understand it, to convert the car to LHD, Tom swapped the bulkhead from the LHD car onto the RHD car, taking the VIN number with it. That, combined with a few other things, puts it under what VOSA deem either a "Radically Alterred Vehicle" of a "Vehicle built from parts", or if the paperwork isn't all in place, what's colloquially called a ringer. Usually speaking, in a reshell the identity of the shell is retained, so you'd have a modified Coupe S, rather than a G40 with a new body.
From what I know, the modifications would mean it would need a Special or Individual Vehicle Approval test, like a kit car. If it'd have had one of these, as the parts came from a few source vehicles, I would have thought it would have been assigned a new VIN number and a Q-plate?
The thing is, no one would probably ever know what's been done, but if it ever had to be looked over by the Police or VOSA (for example if it was involved in a serious accident), whoever owned it would be in bother.
Hope this makes sense. I'm not looking to discredit anyone, from all I've seen and heard about the car, Tom might have done the wrong thing, but he did it really well, but at the same time, we try to do what we can to keep our members out of trouble.

Hello.
Thank you for having the patience to clarify this for me. I knew all the facts but not all the implications. As a result of your information, the legally correct thing to do would be to break the car and it will be done. I will end the eBay listing and copy this information onto the forums for all to see. At least I can say I drove a mk2 G40 for 3 years.
Amanda
