Title: Oil pressure switch
Post by: Gilly on December 18, 2011, 04:44:12 PM
Hi all, had a leak from the oil pressure switch and had fitted a new one which was correct giving them the part number. But the oil light is now flashing, but only flashes when accelerating. Can anyone please help?

There are 2 different oil pressure switches. A low pressure one which is used at low rpm (eg at idle when the oil pressure will generally be lower) and a high pressure one used at high revs. Did you get the part number off the old switch itself or from a parts list? Its possible you now have 2 of the same type fitted and its confusing the oil pressure warning system. If I remember correctly the low pressure/low revs one only sets off the warning light and the other one does both light and buzzer. So it sounds like the problem is with the low pressure one.

I took the part number off of the old switch, what do you recommend I should do? Light is constantly on and off. Cheers

Can anyone clarify the correct part numbers, pressures (stamped on the switch) and colour of the corresponding wire (either yellow or blue) for each switch please.

it would be useful for reference
