Hi guys,
After the steel crankcase breather part which is an interference fit into the block, roughly opposite the oil filter, on the other side. Mine is pretty well blocked and leaving it in the parts washer for a few days hasn't desolved enough of the crud to make it worth fitting again.
All the factors I use are shaking heads saying it's a VW only part.
Is this the case? Are VW going to have my pants down for it? Anyone got a new spare they'd sell, or the part number for it as I can't see it stamped on the unit.
Thanks a lot & Merry Christmas to all,
Ross.
dont think they are expensive from vw, give them a ring.
If you are running a catch tank just rag all the meshing out of it along with all the crud and pop it back on.
£30 at vw for one... if you are running stock pipe work its vw only,
If yr not and running a catch tank can run a normal 1.3 mk2 polo one.
Will a soak in petrol for a night not get it sorted for you?
Hi Chaps - sorry for the late reply.
I left it in the cleaning tank for two weeks with no improvement. Interesting advice regarding the catch tank, thanks a lot. I'll give VW a bell and have a think about which way to go (as I am mid-build.)
Happy new year,
Ross.
you can get normal non-g40 mk2 ones from motor factors..

but expect to pay about £10 at a parts place
The genuine items from VW fit better and don't need trimming to fit like the pattern parts do :-\
